OK, now I think I'm really done.

I added a 1/4” foam spacer on the raised crossmember behind the battery to protect the wheel spokes. Also changed the wedge-shaped foam piece in the left rear corner from 1” to 2” thick.

The tools fit better in the larger round bag (link in post #31), and the jack probably could have been crammed in the bag, but a better place for the jack is below the reinforcing bar just behind the rear seats. I had a fabric case from something else that holds the jack perfectly there. (Or the jack will also fit in the long recess on the right side of the foam.)

The cover sits perfectly flat over the tire.

Great job! I think I'll do something like this too. I wish that the cover was fitted to the edge to completely cover the tire.

Another satisfied customer. Want to thank Centerpunch for blazing the GR spare tire trail. A lot of shaping, black popcorn everywhere. Subaru jack fits great.
Very nice job!

Is that the spare from valuespare.com? Did you check the fit over the front brakes? (They said it fit, but I would want to make sure....)

Just to be clear, that is the unmodified oem cover, which has gaps on both sides whether the spare tire is under it or not.

Yes, value spare. Oh yeah I was checking. Put it on and drove around the block to make sure there wasn't any issues. The spare comes with acorn type lug nuts vs Toyota lug nuts screw into the wheel. Less threaded depth with the spare tire lug nuts Let's say you'll want to make sure the nuts are tight. The spare is a tight fit in the hatch area. At first, I thought I was going to have to move the battery but I was able to wedge it in.

I found a jack and tools from a C-HR and ordered them on eBay. I'm debating which spare tire I want. I want a 135/70R18 for sure. I which that I could find a used one for around $100.
I don't think there is any car with an oem spare tire in that size mounted on a wheel that will fit our cars.

Pretty sure you will either have to buy an 18x4 Toyota wheel (and I guess it's possible they are not all alike) and a separate tire, or buy a wheel and tire package from one of the three spare tire sellers in post #2.

Good to know. I'm looking at them now.

Just FYI, the 135/70 is a VERY tight fit in the trunk- it touches the left side, and presses against the battery hold-down bracket.

The 125/70 is 1/2" smaller in diameter so would fit easier in the trunk and I'm sure would still be fine in use on the car.

@kayakrsteve, which size tire did you use?

Good to know. I really want the 135/70 since it's closer to the correct size and I'm going to go with 245/40R18 tires when I need to replace my OEM tires. I discovered the speedometer reads fast by 2-3 mph so the slightly bigger 245/40 will correct that a little bit.

My value spare tire was 125/70/18. Asked if I could get a 135/70/18, no. Did measure the tire after I couldn't get it in, 26". It is really tight but it will go. Looked on ebay a few days ago and Value Tire had one left, now there isn't a GR Spare listed at all.

Just go to the actual site.

I will also be considering this setup for my GRC Circuit when I take delivery of it.
