This generation of 2 Coupe is so heavy… the weight should be fine for M240i on the road, but not so sure for track purpose

 

Meanwhile, the Zandvoort blue looks very similar to those Hyundais; and the i30N guy here in our forum is coming to explain why the i30N is better in 3,2,1…

 

You'll find a surprising lack of that for a while.

I like the M2. Glad they didn't go for the massive front grill.

 

I really enjoy driving small, nimble, tossable great handling cars, so the M2 is the only one I'd ever be interested in out of all the M cars.
And bonus it comes with a manual transmission.
The one Series M Coupe is a classic and one of my favorites.

Maybe BMW really should let others design the exterior of their cars instead, while they can just focus on continuing to build stupidly powerful turbocharged inline 6s and V8s 😂.

 

I drove my buddy's F87 M2 Competition through some mountain roads, and it hid its weight very well. The new G87 coming in at 3800 lbs still concerns me, but I can't comfortably afford one anyway.

 

Heavier then a RAV4 lmao. Looks like a fake knockoff unlicensed M2 you would see in a Grand Theft Auto game.

 

The new M2 starts at only $63,195.
Dare I say only $13,000 more than the Morizo Edition Corolla.
The M2 in my opinion is way way more car for the money than the GRCME, but it just doesn't look good to me. Too squared off.
I'm sure it would be a blast drifting it around a racetrack, and destroying the rear tires.

The Canadian dollar price is $76,500. thats a really expensive car is my books. Odd looking also, front and back. I owned a first generation M2, much nicer looking, at least on the outside. Inside is great on the new one.

 

Damn....I clicked so fast and was greatly disappointed when it wasn't a new MR2.

 

The only profile that looks good on this car is from the side. The front and rear end are god awful.

 

The small headlights and tail lights don't look that great (though the tail lights would look good if flipped over...) and I'm not sure why the front side grilles and rear look so square, which makes it look a bit cheap and overdone.

But those flared fenders look great and the car could look great with a few tweaks...

 

I think this is one of those I need to see in person to make a decision on. It looks like a car made in Minecraft, and also, I get that we all gained a little weight during the pandemic, but this doesn't look like the small, lightweight car that it used to be, but it could just be not having a point of reference for it.

 

I like it a lot. The red looks fantastic and some of their release videos make every color look good.

 

The only thing good about it is the S58 engine. Thing has made over 1000who to the wheels with relatively simple mods on the stock block. Definitely the modern 2JZ.
Will it come in a manual though? I know all the other M series do

Bit of a mish mash that's for sure. The front intakes remind me of my kitchen sink.

Not my cup of tea for something that will cost NZD$175,000 over here.

Available in like 5 colours, one of which is the Hyundai Blue, are BMW still pissed much that Albert Biermann left them ?

Love it, looks great. Planning on picking up a GRC while waiting for the G87 LCI.

 

I like it, but I'm only interested in AWD. The RS3 looks good as well to me, i'm still sitting on the M240ix in thundernight purple if the GRC doesn't work out ( 23rd on the list )

 

It looks like it comes with a tacky aftermarket bodykit preinstalled. The front and rear bumpers don't match the rest of the car at all.

 

Seems like this might be the ONLY decent looking Bimmer on sale today. Everything else is HUGE, or over styled. It does seem like a car that would grow on ya, and a year from now it will be loved.

 

This thing is hideous, BMW needs to scrap their whole M design team and get back to basics. Previous gen M2 looked great though!

 

Now this is a seriously good looking M car.
Simple yet classic design.
Nothing looks tacked on or out of place.
The new M2 looks more like a transformer.
BMW needs to get back to basics.

 

^Your comments are a little amusing, in the context that when the BMW 1 Series came out it was considered the ugliest car they made. And really, it was true. Back then BMW actually had attractive cars. I think the 1M is a big improvement over the 135i, but still isn't really much of a headturner, especially compared to it's peers from the time. Not discounting your opinion, just pointing out the overwhelming consensus at the time (and probably still).

This car is ugly with a capital U. And 400 lb heavier than the previous M2 (at debut it was right around 3400 lb, gained 200 lb at mid-cycle refresh).

Remember when BMW sold (multiple) coupes that weighed less than a V8 Camaro? Now they sell...zero. Sigh

 

Well, that was quick! BMW unveiled the new M2 a few days ago, and you can already configure one on the BMW UK website. Toyota should take notes...

When the E92 M3 came out I remember thinking - oh c’mon a 3600lb performance car WTF.
Now that’s the lightweight CSL and the WTF number is creeping up towards 4000.
Love that the GR86/BRZ got a second generation. Really considering one if the GR Corolla reviews keep giving me the “this thing is kinda sedate” vibes.

 

It's absurd. So much unecessary BS exists in cars these days. Even the GRC. I could do without the adaptive cruise (radar module) as well as Blindspot detection (sonar modules) plus I think I read adaptive high beams? Which uses a forward camera, typically above the rearview mirror. All those associated modules and wiring could be removed for weight savings.

We don't get the pleasure of ADM's in Canada, that's saved for the gents in the good old US of A.
