Same boat for me. I enjoyed the Elantra GT I had when they first came out in 2013, if it had a turbo I wouldn't have looked at the ST to replace it. I think the i30 N looks good, awesome daily but FWD. Which is the weak point and the reason I wouldn't look that direction even if it were available stateside.
We have an Elantra GT in our garage (2015) that's my wife's daily. It's... fine. It does have some serious rear end shifting when it hits bumps though, feels like it jumps 2-3 inches to the side. Something with the suspension design makes it do funky things, reminds me of what happens to the new jeep gladiators when you install a lift kit and don't relocate the track bar, so it literally pulls the axle sideways under suspension compression.

I was coming from an old mustang so it drove like a dream to me 😂

Elantra N, Veloster N, i30N they're all ugly :sick::sick::sick:
Pretty sure if I was to show the GRC and the i30N side by side over here 9 out of 10 people would say the i30N is a better looking car.

Sorry mate but the GRC is an ugly duckling. Its appeal is there if you are aged about 20, after that you want more refinement and appreciate decent design.

I was prepared to overlook a lot of things to get AWD but unfortunately the list of things wrong with the GRC is just too long for me to buy one now. AWD makes a car more expensive and it makes it heavier. The i30N in a manual comes in at only 1419kg or 3129lb. Take a look through the i30N specs and the GRC gets worse and worse and its more expensive.

We can follow sales numbers of the new GRC through new car registrations, its going to be really bad. The sale of EV's over here has gone through the roof because the government has introduced a rebate system where you get pinged on ICE and you get a refund on EV. Last I checked EV's now make up bout 60% of new car sales so ICE is just about dead and a manual is long dead. Seriously I think they will probably sell like 30 of these in the whole country, all to people who discounted Hyundai without even looking at it.

Yep its for older people who have gone past the boy racer stage and want the Euro look without the price tag.

Your taste changes, you want more refinement and in my case I'm an engineer so I appreciate good design.

The only boy racer left in the i30N is the exhaust note, undeniably epic in N mode.

Tronic, even though I know that the i30N is an incredible hott hatch, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one.
The GRC in my opinion looks far more aggressive and special at least in CE and Morizo trim, than the i30N, and I'm not a kid in my 20's.
Actually, I'm probably one of the most senior members on this forum.

Are you getting paid by Hyundai or are you just on the wrong forum?

Almost like looks are entirely subjective. For being "our most senior members" you two sure are slap fighting like a couple of kids. Time to cut it out.
Lol I missed all the drama

Whelp, test drove an Elantra N and found it a bit too long, and test drove a Veloster N and it rode too stiff. As far as the Kona N, I'm just not mentally ready to accept a CUV into my life. Guess I'll stick with my GR86 for now, and go back to waiting increasingly impatiently for a GR Corolla allocation.

I'm still not opposed to a Veloster N. If it had Adaptive Cruise Control, you'd have a hard time talking me out of it, and using the money I saved to buy my first motorcycle.
