Well that sucks. I hope you are both okay. What kind of car is hers? When my wife and I go out we normally take our 2006 xB or the 17 RAV4. She doesn't like my car because they are lower to the ground than those cars and her 2010 Prius. 🤣🤣🤣
We are mostly okay, thanks for asking. We were driving her 2020 Rav hybrid. The other guy was driving a small Mazda SUV, but I'm not sure what model. His driver airbag definitely deployed, so it was a pretty good hit. The wife says she's fine, but I'm definitely feeling it in my back and neck. I tend to be a wait and see kind of guy, so I may get in the hot tub for a bit this morning and see if that helps before I go get it checked. It was raining a lot, and I believe the traction was poor. The car in front of us stopped abruptly due to a couple of bicyclists, and I had to hammer the brakes but didn't hit her, but then the guy behind plowed us, but didn't knock us into the car ahead of us. Luckily I was still standing on the brake pretty hard. Police, fire, and ambulance all came, but nobody went to the hospital. I haven't tried opening the hatch yet because it's been raining so much, just in case there's an issue getting it to latch again, since the latch area is where it took the brunt of the hit. She had an airbag malfunction warning on her dash, but I knew it was just from the impact. So I went out with my Techstream after we got home, performed a zero-point calibration, and cleared the codes, so at least the warning is gone. Body shops are so booked up around here, I can't imagine how long it's going to take to get it in and get it fixed. Hopefully, I can pull some strings and get it done sooner since a lot of people know me at my former company's collision center.
