Exhaust Set Up

That was definitely not enough to judge. I'm hoping someone makes one longer than 23 seconds long.

Idk if it's just me, but if they want me to spend $2.2k on a catback exhaust, I expect more than that. But then again, they have the reputation to back it up. Unfortunately, though, I'm not rich so I'll just wait.
heres the link to a 2-4th rip. ill get more soon

Thank you so much for the video, I actually quite liked how it sounds.

Is there a range of rpm where any drone shows up? During the lower rpm range of deceleration, it sounded like the roudyness of the exhaust tone went away, but it wasn't until right at the end. During acceleration and upshift, it did sound pretty good.

How's cabin noise, especially with cruise control on at around 2500-3500 rpm?

drone is practically non existent, its really damn nice. the rowdy tone is definitely only when getting on it. once cruising, music at about 18 i cant hear it. im in LA and the cops are quite anal here, and ive had 0 issues in almost 3 months. even chips leave me alone. ill try and get an in cab with windows up.

It does sound pretty good wide open

Another overpriced catback, no thanks.
in all fairness, since everyone is complaining about price, what isn't overpriced nowadays? just callin out the obvious everything is fckd. im still paying mid $5/gal. idk about exhaust pipe, but back in '19 i remember 1.75" DOM being $3/ft and my last quote from dec '22 it was $10.5/ft.

Well seeing as how there isn't much to a GRC exhaust (in terms of bends, it's pretty much a straight shot), at least not much into a single exit (whether it be to either side or center exit), anything over $1500 is too expensive IMO. Exhausts that are keeping the functionality of the exhaust valve are the ones demanding the premium prices. Case in point, the center exit MBRP exhaust is like $800 (does not keep the functionality of the exhaust valve), the Magnaflow is $2k+ (keeps the functionality of the exhaust valve). The Remark exhaust will also be keeping the exhaust valve, therefore will also be $2k+. I'm waiting on pricing for the driver's side exit 3" titanium exhaust from sixth element. I like how the driver's side single exit exhaust positions the section of piping closest to the rear coupler farther away than all other exhausts. I believe we will be getting precise measurements of how far exactly the piping is from the rear coupler on the driver's side single exit vs the stock exhaust. Would also love for someone to get a temp of the rear coupler when driven under hard conditions with stock exhaust vs drivers side single exit as well, seeing as how it's almost unanimously agreed upon that the exhaust piping near the rear coupler does play a factor in the rear coupler overheating, how much of a factor is yet to be known.

Very true. Problem I have is that our "cat-backs" start 3/4s at the rear of the car. It's barely a true cat-back. But it's all with the way Toyota designed the exhaust system.

i agree, i just dont think overpriced describes it. maybe over engineered. i can tell you with the MF on a lake bed in 97° ambient i had 0 issues with the rear dif. had well over 2 hrs of hard drive time, and only issue that was persistent was oil temp climbing above 270°. CTS never budged over 210 including with the ac on. no warnings for anything else.

Here’s a short of the SXTH prototype.

Thank you for the video. It's probably the location of the camera, but it sounded too raspy and/or hollow. What do you think?

Was there a cost estimate out there for this one? This doesn't sound too bad.

I'm losing hope that a reasonable sounding dual exit will become available this summer, and anyhow it'll probably be between 1000 and 1500. If I'm gonna lose the valve function and make too much noise (all in the pursuit of installing a hitch ) I'd rather it be cheap.

They’re shooting for an estimated ~750
