Hey GR Corolla Crew,

As excited as we were to get our GR Corolla in the Mishimoto R&D facility, the tech who did our PDI jumped the gun on attaching the front OEM license plate frame mount. That, plus the dealer license plate frame, left four holes in our front bumper grille. Luckily, we are working on a solution to avoid holes being drilled in your brand new front bumper.

(Excuse the dried water drops on the front bumper. We got caught in a surprise downpour on the drive back to the shop.)

When will you have a product available on the market?
We are starting our R&D phase and engineering a solid solution takes time. I will keep everyone in the loop on product release timing as the project progresses.

How much will it cost?
It's too early in the project to know, but we are shooting for under $100.

Will there be a discount?
We typically host a pre-sale before the product launches/ships. I'll keep you in the loop on timing for this, too.

Our first thought is to use the tow hook location to the drivers side of the GR logo. Is it a concern for you guys if the license plate covers the GR logo?

Intake + hardpipe combo kit and ITCC air duct pleeeeeease (sorry for derail, but had to lol)

I have the carbonio plate mount that clamps to the grill but it's designed for the regular Corolla and could be better. Lets see what you can do!

just walk back in the dealership and tell them you're mr mishimoto and that akio toyoda is gonna come there and drive a toyota hilux into the building if they don't replace the grill for $200.

also, please, centered plate. what nobody else really does and what you can capitilize on, is a license plate frame that is instantly removable. i prefer to run no plate at all times but SOMETIMES i have to park in areas where I know i might get a ticket. i would love to just reach into my trunk and grab my plate (+frame probably?) and be able to just place it on the front of the car and it'll stay. bonus if it allows you to keep it on while driving as well

if it helps to visualize this:

i imagine it would be like a bracket that you attach to the plate and there's a permanent small nub attached to the grill that's black and hard to see. and the bracket on the plate will either magnetize onto those nubs on the grill or some kind of push fastener for tool-less install/removal of the plate

I have a month beore i have to put a plate on, as I and my family and detailer want me to put a no drill plate on. or leave it off...but here in NJ the cops like to pull you over for no plate... So i called Carbonio a few days ago as i just picked up my car last Thursday. Here is there reply with easy installation instructions. Seems like you can place it anywhere on the grill where there is opening. Take 15 seconds to take it off and put it back on. Not sure if its any different than the Corolla model, but this is what they feel is best,,Will keep an eye on this tread if there is better no drill plate holder

Thank you for your call. For the GR Corolla the mount used on the Supra works perfectly well. Here is the link:

I ordered the KollektivWerks drill-free license plate mount and unfortunately it can only be centered. It would be great if you all could come up with a solution that would allow people to place it where they would like (centered or offset).

Now you see it... now you don't...

We are still working through some prototypes, but are getting close to a 'dual' mounting option depending on whether or not you want to show the "GR" logo.

Awesome work. Personally I would avoid driver side altogether because a mounted plate and GR badge together upsets the visual balance for me. Passenger side would require a more creative solution, which another vendor has been working on.

I got the Kollektiv Werks one and did a bit of a no-no by installing it other than instructed. They say it voids the lifetime warranty, but I’m willing to take that bet and if I lose, I’ve got nobody to blame but myself. It kinda gets in the way of the intercooler but I’m not a fan of how it looks up higher. I figure it’s no better or worse than where the factory
drill holes are located. Still waiting on my plates, so I’ve only got a picture of the mount for now.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Our primary goals were easy install (removing the small tow hook cover is a piece of cake), being able to revert back to stock with no cutting/drilling, and to avoid blocking the intercooler. Especially with summer coming up, you want the intercooler to receive as much airflow as possible.

Agree. Intercooler needs all the help it can get, especially here in the hot and humid south where heat soak is definitely a thing. Your EVO like solution is literally the perfect solution for the car. I hope your solution is a real quick swap as it will make it like 1 minute for track days to put the tow hook back in then put the plate back on for the drive home. And I like it especially because I’ll be moving to a state that has no front plate requirements so this solution is perfect. Excellent job.

Been with you guys since 2016 or so when you started working on my RS. Solid shop. I just hope the rear diff/clutch pack cooler comes to fruition this time.

For comparison’s sake, this is the lowest and farthest left you can get the KollektivWerks solution before blocking the intercooler with their design.
