Pretty sure a set of forged 19's with tires are going to be lighter than a set of cast 18's with tires.

The new CTR comes with 19's because the tire choice is much better than 20's and the tires are cheaper. I could run 235/35R19 or for slightly softer ride 245/35R19.

I can get away with 19's as long as you have adaptive dampers.

We get some bad pot holes over here and now I'm going to start avoiding certain roads. We recently had a major incident over here where the road gave out in a bad storm and took out 30 plus cars with blown tires and stuffed rims so basically 18's or 19's will make no difference if you hit something big enough at speed.
Not necessarily, I have adaptive dampers on my Veloster N and even in the comfort setting it's still a pretty harsh ride, although nothing comparable to the Ford Focus RS,
and still not as comfortable as the outgoing Civic Type R.
When I test drove the Type-R I couldn't believe how comfortable the ride was having such low profile rubber bands.

Normal instrument cluster not a tv screen but has a 4.2inch TFT in the centre for driver information
Not going to get into the whole argument but this is something I wholeheartedly agree with. Absolutely don't the obsession with digital screens, brings nothing to the table and looks flat, like how digital watches look compared to analog ones.

I have test driven an i30N (DCT no manual was available) and it was switched to N mode and the ride was fine. I have no idea what some people call harsh. My MR2 was firm and that was in 15inch wheels and track tires. My Subaru has factory Bilstein suspension and 18inch tires and I call that firm. If you want what I call a harsh ride try a proper Kart, it has zero suspension.

A screen for the tacho and speed is shit. You cannot get the 3D effect and it bright sunlight its going to suck. I sat in an AMG A45 and I hated the digital screen it did something to my eyes as its just to close to focus on properly, its a really really bad idea as far as i'm concerned, will take an old school dash anyday.

Just to give you a heads up, N cars have 2 different "N" modes, one is "N" everything, the other "N custom" where you set each parameter separately.
If I put the suspension in N mode on my Veloster N, the ride is so harsh and unbearable it will almost shake your fillings loose, only to be used on super smooth racetracks or newly paved roads.
On your test drive they may have had it in N custom mode with the suspension in normal or the softest setting.
Just saying.

With digital screens, it's either a number which refreshes slow and is just a number, or its a digital dial which is just a 2d version of the same one we've had for 100 years.

It's just an over-obsession with "modern/flashy/high tech" even when what we already have is literally straight up better.

I personally like the look of the i20N.
Now if Hyundai had made it with all-wheel drive that would have been a game changer.
Awhile ago, @Wynorrific and I were talking about that car and how Hyundai could've made it a global, affordable, "rally inspired" hatch. Apparently in current form it gets high praise.

It's really too bad Toyota couldn't have put an active exhaust in the GRC like Hyundai does.
Would have made it that much more special.
It does have an active exhaust. It’s open at idle and below 20mph and above 4,700 rpm.

I'd rather get active suspension. Heck, my Dodge Stealth from 1992 even has it.

I traded in my GR86 for one of the last new Veloster Ns this weekend. I previously ruled it out after I test drove a used one and decided it rode too firmly for me, but got called by a local MSRP-only dealer that this one became available when another buyer backed out of the sale, and decided to give it another go. Apparently, they made some suspension setup changes throughout the model years, because this one feels a lot more compliant. It also helped that the dealer gave me close to what I bought my GR86 for 7 months ago, and that Hyundai Motor Finance offered a better APR than my credit union would right now.

I'm keeping my GR Corolla deposit active and may very well switch again whenever my Toyota dealer gets an allocation for me, but so far, I'm enjoying this little kimchi-mobile!

Congrats looks very nice. 👍👍
At least you have a fun ride now to tide you over until your GRC arrives.

That's the plan! The GR86 was fun too, but I've been itching to get another hot hatch and if I'm honest, the RTV in the oil pickup thing (which is probably blown out of proportion) did make me hesitant to drive the GR86 hard, defeating the purpose of a sports car.

I don’t think the RTV thing is blown out of proportion. lol.

Have fun with your new hot hatch!!!
