Exhaust Set Up

I know a number of people have mentioned heat wrapping the exhaust by the differential or even a heat shield, but I'm surprised that almost nobody has suggested ceramic coating the inside (and maybe outside too) of the pipe/section that goes by the diff to reduce heat there. It should be effective and much more permanent and resistant to weather and corrosion. (If anything, a ceramic coating will increase the life of the exhaust and won't trap moisture).

(I think one thread suggested coating the exhaust there but I can't remember which one.)

Do you have a definite source stating there is no sound enhancement? I’ve seen videos with people pulling the plug on the GR Yaris. I assumed it was for the GRC platform as well.

Thanks. Interesting that the GRY, GR Supra, and GR86 all have artificial sound systems.

Gives new meaning to the phrase all-motor! Ha. It really does sound good though.

So yeah, I unplugged the valve. Drove maybe 15-20 miles like that and never had a CEL or warning or anything  but GODDAMN was it loud. All boom all the time. I think it created a few interior rattles lol. Not sure I can abide. Going to have to re-think my hitch plans.

What triggers the valve to open? Idling off what someone else wrote and throttle? I would definitely like to open it or half it have some noise at all times. Also I saw a clip of a resonator delete and couldn't find it again didn't sound too bad, would like to maybe do that till someone like COBB puts out an exhaust.

This is a photo of the valve actuator on the exhaust of a Porsche GT4. Operates open, closed, open just like the GRC. If you look at the rod that opens and closes the valve, you can see a small collar bolted on the rod. This prevents the valve from closing all the way. Users can set the sound level they want just by adjusting where the collar is mounted on the rod. I have some collars but unsure if they will fit the diameter of the rod.

This would give us sound all the time but dialed in to your personal preference of sound level.

And the video interview with the chief engineer said it too. I am glad! The intake resonator diaphragm thing that pipes into the cabin of my FR-S is about as far as I like, when it becomes piped in through the stereo system, thats too far to me.

The only bad part about early adopting of a new platform is the painful waiting for parts to come out, I'm dying to get a louder valved exhaust.

It’s also going to suck when everyone buys the same exhaust because it’s first to market or you have to wait because you realize that the first one that comes out sounds like shit or sounds worse than a competitor. Brand that isn’t out yet.
