Exhaust Set Up

WOW, now that's what I'm talking about. Really excited for clips.

I wonder how much those teeny mufflers actually do. I'd love something that's livable without drone for just cruising that really opens up under load.

They posted in cabin clips on the Facebook post

Regarding modifying the stock exhaust to permit a hitch, I have a plan for it and will probably give er' a go this Sunday as long as the parts arrive. I'm gonna go for a drive with the plug pulled on the valve mechanism today and see if it throws any codes. FYI, when you park the car the valve is open, so if you pull the plug it'll stay open.

Someone else pulled the plug and threw a code but maybe you’ll have better luck

Oh really? Ha, I doubt it. Will have to try it though, could be a problem if it prevents mode changes etc.

Not sure if anyone looked, but with that valve open you can see straight through down into the pipe heading under the axle. No baffle or anything.

Thought it didn't throw a CEL, but threw a reduced performance message...
It did but I’m not sure if he left it long enough to see if a CEL would pop up. Personally, I’d rather have a check engine light that just tells me that the valve isn’t functioning than a reduced engine performance.

I’ve pulled the whole exhaust apart. The resonator has some baffles in it and then there’s no other blockage in the exhaust until you hit the first cat, which is, coming from the exit, working towards the turbo, just before the downpipe

this is kind of why I'm not really looking to replace the stock exhaust, not sure what there is to gain really other than adding some lightness, or changing the tone of the exhaust.

the motor for the valve seems to be bolted to the exhaust, I wonder what happens if you unbolt the whole thing? if the butterfly stays there, just use a spring or something to keep it in the open position, and tuck the motor assembly away somewhere.

I’m anxiously awaiting the aftermarket exhaust manufacturers to jump on this new platform. Other than some cosmetic changes (window tint, rear Toyota emblem blackout, front Toyota emblem blackout, CE vented hood), exhaust will be my first must-have. For me, sound is a critical component of the overall engagement I get from my sports cars, and this one just ain’t got it. Also looking to shit off the fake engine noise being pumped into the speakers.

There is no fake engine noise on the GRC

As stated the grc doesn’t have any
