Electrical fire? There really isn't anything else on that side that would cause a fire. It's what the air cleaner box, trans, and fuse box. that's all that's on that side.

The Reddit poster says a Toyota Tech was driving it back from an aftermarket alarm install and "and when it reached boost on the on-ramp...". Car was <500 miles...

Yeah, another explainable engine failure or and/or fire, but watch this get blown (pun intended) out of proportion.

Only real question is was it DAT or manual (possible money shift).

My guess is a small electrical fire that was starved for air until they reached the on-ramp. The increased vehicle speed then delivered a good supply of oxygen and the fire spread. Maybe then melted a line carrying flammable liquid of some sort.

Either that or they exceeded 85mph....

I hope we find out what happened then, did the seal on the connection point fail causing fuel spray? Lines melted(assuming they're plastic)? We need to know!

Haven't posted mine on here yet... Older gentleman in his NAPA work truck decided to switch lanes without looking. Laid on the horn but he didnt see me, ran off the road trying to avoid him. Luckily no metal was damaged. Bumper, flare, various plastic bits and the driver rear wheel (along with an alignment) are all being done. Dropped the car off on 01-13-25 for repairs.

That certainly could have been worse! Glad to hear it wasn't. Hopefully you got his insurance information and he didn't just keep driving.
