Almost a week into my '23 Core, still figuring out some of the electronics, which is one gripe. I had a hell of a time figuring out how to turn off LDA/LTA then getting out of Settings. Which "Settings" turned out to be a possible selection for the dash layout?? I'm coming from a '14 BRZ Ltd which had fewer doodads.

The wireless charger, doesn't, but I was warned about that by the seller and he included a different charger I haven't had time to look at. Got plans this weekend to finally get into the car a bit more than just setting up my phone and driving to work. Which the Android Auto and "Profile" keep cutting out, probably my biggest annoyance so far.

So far those are my only two "not likes" and I believe I will get over them in time. Love driving this thing, reminds me of a more capable version of my 500 Abarth (although I miss the exhaust note).

EDIT: forgot the lack of storage! Holy crap, a small glove box half taken up by 3" of manuals and that's it? Center console first thing going in this weekend.

I've had mine since the first wave hit dealers in December. Here is my list of annoyances.

  • Low rent interior. I feel like I'm driving a $20k car when I paid $40k for this thing.
  • Lack of storage overall. No center console/armrest, no seat back pockets, small rear hatch.
  • Constant pop-ups on my cluster for things I do not care about. I don't need a pop-up every time I turn on cruise control or telling me that my engine is cold.
  • Gas tank is too small. I get that this is to save weight, but I'd really like a 16 gallon tank instead of the 13 it has now.
  • iMT and ALL of the drive modes need to be a persistent setting. I hate having to turn on iMT and switch to sport mode every time I drive the car.
  • No dual climate control when the XSE has it. This is just stupid.
  • No button in the cabin to open the hatch.
  • Gloss black plastic everywhere SUCKS. I need to wrap all of it at some point.
  • The brake pads are super dusty and squeaky (small gripe).
  • iMT doesn't always rev match. Maybe I'm downshifting too slow or something, but sometimes it just doesn't rev match.
  • Backup camera has the quality of a potato.
  • Wireless android auto randomly disconnects sometimes.
  • The JBL system desperately needs a small subwoofer.
  • The wireless charger sucks and won't charge either of my phones.
  • Lane keep assist deactivates itself after 10 seconds if it thinks you're not grabbing the wheel. Super annoying.
  • Active cruise is way too quick to brake. It seems to slam on the brakes if the car in front of me slows down a little instead of just letting off the throttle.
  • The seat belt alarm is the most annoying sound I've ever heard. (I always wear my seat belt when on the road, but I live on a large property and do not wear a seat belt when driving my car to my shop on private property.)
  • The cluster settings will not save the TPMS widget no matter what I do. The rest of my settings save, but TPMS always reverts back to something else every other drive or so.

I think that's everything. Most of my issues have to do with it just being a Corolla at the end of the day. Economy car problems. Maybe I should've bought an Audi or Lexus, lol.
The driving experience mostly makes up for all of the issues. I think this drivetrain with a Lexus interior and features would be my dream daily. I still plan to upgrade to a 2025 or 2026 Special edition when they release even with all the little issues I have with the car.
I've had the rev matching work reliably for me and i have the bypass to turn it on when i start my car, so i always use it when I drive. I know that if you downshift but don't let off the clutch and then downshift again, it won't rev match the second time. iMT won't rev match more than once with a single clutch press. That's the only time i've noticed it 'not working'.

I, for one, love the seats in my CE. I'm 6'2", 290 lbs, and my knees don't hit the wheel at all.

Truth be told, I was also looking at the 2024 WRX, because I could get one for 30k OTD, but the WRX seat bolsters dig into my fat a** and thighs. The GR seats were made for my Sumo-sized posterior, evidently.

I don't find the seat too high, either. Visibility is low enough already, and dropping the seat would exacerbate this.

Now, here's my loves and hates:

LOVE:

  • HM metallic paint looks sooooo sexy clean.
  • I have seen ONE other CE on the road since I grabbed mine. One. That's exclusivity.
  • The shifter reminds me of the 2006 STi. Great feel.
  • The sounds this car makes are anything but "ricey." I love the 3rd-hole actuator. (THAT'S what SHE said!) It's quiet on the highway, but wakes-up when you give it a push. Brilliant design, IMO, especially for an older person who's already had his share of loud cars.
  • The car handles amazingly well. Stock.
  • It's a Toyota, so parts will probably not be an issue over the next 10-15 years.

NO LOVE:
  • Dinky ass gas tank. I mean, c'mon. I gota stop every 300mi on road trips? In a Toyota?
  • Limited rear visibility.
  • Everyone tries to race me. I mean, even pr**ks in Italian cars with 2x the HP are all asshappy when I pull up next to them. Really?! It's a Toyota. Calm down.
  • The dash stitching does not match the seats. That's so lame. This was/is an exclusive car, and shame on Yoter for not bucking-up the extra $15 to add red thread to the dash to match my seats. (I plan to do this.)
  • 23 CE = no BBS. That is my biggest gripe aside from the shotglass of a gas tank.
  • Piano black interior trim. Carbon fiber would look better, and the dust this interior seems to accumulate is next effing level.

Most of my gripes are small. This is a really cool car, and one I see keeping for at least 10 years. Hopefully I don't get a ticket, because it is easy to get a little too randy on the back roads...

I don't HATE anything about the car. There are things I certainly don't like, but they're minimal. Storage is the big one. What an absolute miss. I hate having to throw a backpack or sling or something in the bag to just take sunglasses with me.

Even so, the car is great. We drove an hour or so to dinner last night, and even the tire noise on really siped sections of highway didn't bother us. Easy to make excuses for a car that is so fun to drive.

It probably helps that I've daily driven rally cars, loud ass muscle cars... blah blah blah. My 'normal' car is also a 4Runner with all the 'look at me I overland' BS on it (yeah, I can make fun of myself) these days, so I don't know if I'd know what nice and quiet even is any longer.

I do find it funny that a lot of you seem to get people wanting to race all the time. I can't say I've had a single notice in mine, and it's bright blue. I even saw a white CE and didn't get a second look from the guy, so... I dunno what is up, but I'm not mad at being stealth.

I really wish the car would stay in the settings I left it at the last time I drove.

Like iMT being on, AWD mode being in 50:50 or whatever, drive mode in Sport.

Or at least let me set the defaults myself.

I hear you. On the iMT thing, this little device has solved that problem for me...

Unfortunately it may not work with the MY25 due to the button being moved.

I have the harness to keep the iMT on that I'd happily send you for the cost of shipping. I won't be installing it. I actually hate the iMT feature.

Thanks for the offer! Let me think about it a bit. I'm honesty not sure if it'll even work now that the button is relocated to the center console.
If I can remember to do so, I'll check the wiring diagrams tomorrow at work and see if the connectors and wiring are the same. Maybe shoot me a PM to remind me.

I hate that i had to wait years before markups in the mid tennessee area came back down to reality...But I love that it only took me a month from putting a deposit down to get into a 25 MY.

I'm glad I waited, the extra power feels great.

so far the things that are bugging me. Hill assist. Causes me to stall sometimes. The delay of the throttle response at times when mashing the gas, it doesnt always respond right away. Annoying.

Also came back to say the lack of any kind of thing to hold the seat belts from flopping around in the wind with all windows down. The ones in the back beat against the plastic stuff.

Ice cap paint on mine has 2 spots that are just crap from the paint, looks like areas where there are runs.
