Just changed my engine, transfer, diff, and manual fluid at 629 miles.
Seen mixed reviews about break in, but figured I do it just to be safe.

Manual Transmission = Redline MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4
Transfer & Diff = Redline 75W85 GL-5
Engine = Motul 8100 Eco-lite 0w20 (ILSAC GF-6A / API)
that rear diff drain plug, right? thats why i did it too @ 639mi
i used the same fluids too

Excellent choice of lubricant companies 👍

$50 for the redline fluids (got discount on them)
I don’t remember for the Motul oil because I had it from awhile ago. (also got discount on Motul)
$16-18? for filter and gaskets
Lol, did it yourself! Respect! Unfortunately something I'm not able to do. Hesitant to take it to the dealer. I'm right at 600 miles as of tonight.

Do you happen to have the part numbers for all the drain/fill plich crush washers?

*NEVERMIND, I read the thread...lol.

Thanks!

I was VERY hesitant to take it to a dealer which is why I just did it myself.
I can handle the mechanical side of things, but I won't lie... I'm hesitant on taking mine to the dealer AND even myself cracking things open so early, but;ll have to get over that.

Question, how, much fluid did you have to replace the transmission and diffs? Did you measure the fluid drained and filled up the same amount or was it like an oil change, where you know you have 4-5 quarts to fill back up?

I know on some cars, some transmissions will not drain all fluid, so the rule of thumb is only to fill up as much as you drained, same for diffs.

Wondering if you had todo the same thing.

Definitely understand. I am used to working on older cars, so for me to work on a new car like this was weird, loll.

I put 2 quarts for the transmission, roughly 0.40 to 0.50 quarts in both the diff and transfer case. I kind of measured by pouring half the fluid in two separate containers, but I did not measure the fluid when it came out/drained. I only thought about that after I finished the whole job, lol.

Agreed, after being on hold twice last week with the service department and the Parts department and being hung up on 3 times by both. I just dont think its in my best interest to take it to them. They also claimed twice they had the right oil, just breezing over it by saying yes its 0w-20. Ok but is it the specs listed on the oil cap? Well Ummm not exactly it should be fine blah blah blah. And after watching the Car care nut's video. Its just hitting home with ok, ill use their oil filter but use Mobil One. Never really had issues with that oil after using it in my Subaru for 9 years. Just need access to a lift.

They are always going to default to the OEM recommended weight. We need the tuners shops to test the thing extensively, on dyno, and track and we should see some recommendations. I’m in the South where we see high humidity and 100 degrees for a good portion of the year. Hard driving usually sees recommendation of a heavier oil. we shall see. I’d be doing 0W-20 for now until we get intel.
Our Aussie mates also experience high temps and humidity, so perhaps we can get better info from them in regards to engine oil weights.
I'm a big supporter of doing your own fluid changes on a performance oriented vehicle, but can the dealer refuse any warranty claims if there is no record of fluid changes done at a Toyota dealership? Just curious, as I've never owned a brand new performance vehicle. Only vehicles I've ever bought brand new were regular everyday vehicles, and those got fluid changes done at the dealership. All my performance cars were bought used or were project cars to begin with, and for those cars I always did my own fluid changes.

Yeah, that was another concern of whether or not they would be using the correct oils. I just do not want them to be touching my car (cause a lot of people at dealers do not give a fuck about your car). I will bring it in if I REALLY have to, lol.

I know from experience that some lube techs (not all of course) are just kids..

Lube Techs, having worked in the automotive field, are in the bottom slot for positions in the Service Department and the most underpaid. So, yeah... they usually don't care. Speed and volume are what matter.

Also, considering the GRC isn't as readily available, I don't need my car to be the center of attention or need random "road tests" after service. I take our 2022 Sienna in for service, because who cares about driving a minivan, but a GRC??? I don't trust them. Lol.

Lol what about if the actual dealer uses the wrong fluids? Idk how you could prove it, but not trust worthy.

With the app you can have it monitored, and let anyone you will have working on it be aware that it documents fast cornering and fast acceleration as well as braking. I plan on telling whoever works on mine about it so they at least think twice.

Good point, I did not think about the app for that part.
