I am pretty sure you’re right. All I remembered is that if you don’t pull it out, it pops right back. So you have to unscrew then pull or some combination of those two motions. Also it should stays on the panel, if you actually pulled it out, that was a little too much force.
easily popped back in though.

@MYount can you also do me a favor, take a picture of the other plastic clips…. I lost one…. Still deciding if I want to get a new one to replace it….
BTW - my picture below shows all the fasteners associated with the driver's side front panel.

I can confirm they are barbed threads; they push on, but have to be unscrewed along with the panel. I don't think they separate from the panel. You'll have to load the panel while unscrewing the first one and stuff a rag behind the panel to keep the fastener from reengaging the threads.
Can confirm this is also how I did it for mine when I installed the RA mudflaps.
So long as you keep it under tension you can unscrew it but try not to swear too loudly when you bump your elbow and it resets. (speaking from experience)

For sure. I did part of removal on quickjack. But didn’t get the blocks’ position right. So part of the cover was pinched between the car and the block. Lowered the car, jacked the car up onto jackstands. Had to adjust the height more than once…. With barely enough clearance, and it kept popping back in. and that was just to remove the damn cover.

Thank goodness my family was out.

Anyone have a part number for that threaded clip? I stripped out the philips head on one clip when I was working on my mudflaps, and just threw it away after prying it out.
They're actually pretty tight -- you really should use a socket on 'em. If you actually pried it out of the plastic, the same size/type screw may not thread back in.
