The M3, like the Civic, edges into Mid-sized territory where the Corolla is an honest compact.
3200-3300 lb. compact... Ford's supercar Mustang GTD weighs almost 4500 lbs... Compact. I keep using that word. I don't think it means what I thought it meant. We owned an E30 and 2 E36's - backseats in all those weren't any more useful than the Corolla's.

Having said all that I have to laugh at myself. No one of any size will ever sit in the back of mine.

EPA definition of a Compact car is 100-110 cubic feet of interior volume Mid-size is 110-120.
GR Corolla Interior Volume is 102.4 cubic feet.
2025 M3 is 111.9
Civic Type R is a whopping 123.4.

When I'm out in the canyons, I really like the small size of the GRC. If I need to haul people or stuff the Lexus RX comes out.

If I could only have one car, the GRC would be a harder sell.

This is so very true. I own both an FK8 and a GRC. the FK8 feels MUCH bigger inside when driving it (a totally different class of car in interior space). The GRC feels much more nimble and quite a bit narrower when zipping down a tiny back road. There is plenty of room in the rear of the FK8 for two normal sized adults and the hatch/trunk area is cavernous compared to the GRC.

Also, this is important: i’ve had both of them at the racetrack (I’m an instructor). The GRC is way easier to place exactly where you want. A big part of that is that you can see exactly where the corners are of it much easier than the CTR. And it physically feels much shorter and narrower than the CTR. between the two, the GRC is more fun on the race track. (mine is a Morizo, so there is that too).
