I'm surprised any of the manufacturers other than Toyota are still competing tbh. M-Sport doesn't have manufacturer support, and Hyundai has had nothing but mechanical trouble. Citroen dropped out for a similar reason, although rumors are that they will return in a year or two. With all the other makes focusing on electric I wonder if the Hybrid Era will be short lived...
I mean, we kind of expected it to be a trial year anyways. This year had a bunch of new regs and technologies

I don't see Citroen returning with current regs and their size as manufacturer. I hope to see VW back someday since they're the next biggest company, after Toyota.

VW has been out since dieselgate and have since stated they won't be doing ICE-based motorsports in the future.

I think I heard rumors of a manu joining after this season, we'll see though. Skoda have been fairly successful in WRC2, let's hope they decide to jump up to Rally1.

Does Skoda have a lot into EV/PHEV tech?

I mean neither has Ford really. The Puma ST is the closest thing to the Puma Rally1(which aren't identical at all) and they had the Fiesta ST but never an RS so that wasn't close either. No need for WRC inspired road cars anymore other than pure appeal like Toyota did with continuing to sell the GRY
Escort RS Cosworth? I know that's from the past but at least they actually made something like that.

Yeah I meant more in recent times. Since Hyundai is still new to WRC, I was comparing them to the recent rally cars which don't really have a homologation special like all the manufacturers did prior

If you haven't had a chance to do so, Dirtfish has some excellent coverage:

The FIA/WRC All Live stream quality is so garbage, it's refreshing to see some proper raw footage that gives Kenya visual justice.

I watched this while working on my bike yesterday. It’s crazy how beautiful and dangerous the stage is.

One of the best things about Kenya (and living on the west coast) is that I get to see some of Friday before it gets too late for me 😅

So much drama at the end of the first loop! That fesh fesh takes no prisoners. LOL at Tanak's shifter mishap. Crazy seeing Greensmith completely explode his car as the helicopter watches. Hopefully Loeb is able to make it to the afternoon stages!

Friday starting off strong!

Bro I live down I5 from you, I’m in Oly. It is awesome. Lol.

I agree!!!! At first I didn’t understand what was going on with Tanak until later. I’m hyped Katsuta is getting better and bummed Neuville made 7th after his rollover in Rally Italia weeks ago. Figured he would’ve been better.

I generally don't feel bad for Greensmith but Saturday was rough for him lol. I loved watching the post-stage interview through the bonnet 😂

Honestly a little sad about the number of retirements we're seeing from everyone but Toyota. The rain certainly did not help!

Another great article from Dirtfish regarding the Safari Rally:

Kinda encompasses what I love so much about rally and Toyota:

Toyota’s drivers did not break their cars. They were smart. They were sensible. At times, they were not fast – not least the powerstage, where they cruised to the finish to lock down their history-making top four lockout.

But all four were undoubtedly helped by the folks in Jyväskylä, who appear to have designed and built the most reliable Rally1 car in the world.

@Wynorrific and I were just talking about this (he talked about this before the season started also). As I have high hopes for Katsuta, his driving style is basically all fundamentals and it works for him in this new era of rally.

Reliability and precision are more valuable then ever. Seems like being smooth is better than being outright fast.

Pretty uneventful last day it seems, Kalle really seems to be running away with it! Good to see Katsuta on the podium again, too. Great job to the Toyota mechanics and engineers keeping the cars out of trouble all weekend.
Uneventful because one of the teams (M-Sport Ford) is basically dead before even half way through the entire event, Found on Road Dead living up to their reputation.

What really puzzled me is why Ford and Hyundai drove in such a reckless manner.
