Hello,
I'm preparing for the delivery of my GR Corolla in January. Since I live in WI, I naturally I want to get snow tires given the timeframe lol. I currently own a mazdaspeed3, and although it was 10+ years ago, from what I recall, my experience of ordering winter tires and wheels for that car was a lot easier and less confusing than what I am reading here lol. I'm seeing all kinds of posts about needing different studs, spacers, etc. I want something (a wheel/tire combo) that I can ship to the dealer that "just works" that they can put on when the car arrives. I really don't care about looks for my winter wheels; the current ones on the speed are steelies...my main concern is just having winter tires and wheels, ideally whatever is the lowest price combo to get me there, but ballparking it, it looks like I'll be around $1600 or so total for everything. If there are cheaper options, I'm open to it.
Anyways, with all of that in mind ,and after doing some reading and research on here and setting out to look at tire rack, I have a few questions:
-First, I'm guessing I won't be lucky enough to use the existing OEM wheels from my speed3, but I just wanted to confirm. From what I can find online, the specs are:
Ideally, for the GRC, I'd like to go with something that has " a bit" more sidewall given how garbage the roads get around here in the winter with potholes, etc. I was thinking 222/45/R18, as that seems to have a blend of 18" tires for clearance, and a bit more sidewall, but I'm open to any other suggestions if there are better/easier options.
With that in mind, I was looking at vredestein wintrac pros in 225/45/R18, with these wheels (18x8,35 offset)
Vision Wheel Boost (it won't let me post a direct link since this is my first post)
Will the above tire/wheel combo "just work" if I have it shipped from tirerack to the dealer, or is there a better/easier fitment option? Ideally I'd like to keep the ordering and purchasing of everything at one website just for ease of procurement if possible, but I'm not tied to tirerack.
Also on a related note, is it possible to fit the OEM wheels in the GRC with the seats folded flat?
If it makes the most sense to just keep the OEM wheels and swap winter tires on them too, I could do that as well. My thought with a totally different set of wheels was, I'm not beating the OEM wheels up with salt/winter garbage, and also, with a totally separate set of wheels and tires, I can swap them out myself as opposed to always having to take it somewhere to swap the tires on and off of one set of wheels.
Thanks for the help!
