Car Vehicle Sky Automotive lighting Hood

*Professional driver on a closed course.

I know there's a lot of folks here who are very familiar with a race track and it got me wondering, who here has gone fastest?
For the purposes of safety, we'll assume all runs were on a race track, closed course, or derestricted road like the Autobahn, and I'm guessing most of us won't have evidence, so let's just agree to take everyone's word for it.

As for me, the photo above is for illustrative purposes only (I'm not secretly Andy Wallace 😆). My record was about half this, an indicated and limited 155 mph in a mid/late-90's E-Class AMG and friends, it was terrifying!

I once hit 120mph on my first car, a BMW e46 built in 1999, back in 2017. Awful experience, the car was shaking and giving me the "danger to Manifold" warning. I was young and dumb but learned my lesson; the head gasket blew up two weeks after. Now, I only go up to 90mph but that's just to pass on the freeway, I mean track lol
If I get lucky, and am able to obtain a GRC, I would like to take it to the track for sure.

An indicated 160mph in my Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo. Felt like the world was ending. Terrifying. The car wanted to go a little more, but I wasn't ready to die.

About 250km/h which is 155mph. In a modern Lambo or Ferrari it's pretty tame, in a pretty average 90s sports car it's much more exciting.

with all the vibration somewhat you can feel the ground, LOL.. I did 235km/h on my 1993 Civic hatchback with a k20 type r 6 speed, I honestly say it's exciting as you are the one who built it and it can go that fast

That's definitely a big factor. The Italian exotics were carefully assembled by highly skilled, likely very stylish Italian mechanics and then maintained and closely monitored by an expert team, so you have the confidence to push them as fast as they can go. The other cars I've taken up over 200 were all cheap old things my friends and I had built, so you don't.

I've been 145 in my STI. Found myself on a stupidly empty freeway in southern Utah during the middle of the day and I was alone in the car. I was actually surprised at how stable it felt. Acceleration was pretty good until about 135, I could tell those last 10 mpg were starting to push it. I think I would have been waiting a while to hit the 155 limit.

It also took a reeeaal long time to get back down to the 80mph speed limit.

Speedo corrected 168 mph. Bike was still pulling too, just not long enough of a straight. Regularly, as in every few months see 145-155. But uninitiated think it’s a big deal. You’re only at those kind of speeds for a few seconds. Pulling, pulling, roll off, brake, downshift, and back in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear.
