Any reputable tire/repair shop will want to dismount the tire, inspect carefully and apply a patch inside. Is that just a piece of gravel trapped in the tread on the outside/left side? Tires look pretty good at 11k near as I can tell from that picture.
Yeah, just gravel near sidewall. Tire has about 7000 miles on it and was rotated once. Winter tires have the other 4000 miles. Discount Tire apparently puts a plug from the outside and then patches over the plug on the inside. They did my right rear around 3000 miles. still holding fine.

Combo patch/plug is the only thing we're allowed to use now at the dealership. Patches and plugs are a no-go. Patch/plug only.
That may be what they meant. When I asked which they used, plug or patch, guy just said "both", so yeah could be a combo. I didn't know about those so probably what he was describing.

Yeah, it's like a patch with a big long nipple sticking out the middle of it, with a needle coming out the middle of the nipple. You push the needle through the tire from the inside, after prepping the surface of course, pull it through from the outside. Then stitch down the patch on the inside, and cut off the excess of the plug. They are extremely secure. Kind of a pain in the ass to do, but it is a very reliable repair. I had a tire store refuse to repair one of the tires on my Tacoma after I picked up a box cutter blade. I took it to work the next day and installed one of those combo patch plugs. Been there for years without any issue.

It's likely a plug/patch combo that is applied from the inside - the plug is pushed through from the inside, pulled into place until the patch is flush on the inside. The diddly-doo on the right.

Autocross. I missed Saturday's night event (trying to get the Celica autographed by Dwight Yoakam) but I made the second day at least. I still haven't seen any times, never care much honestly. But this was run 6 of 6 and felt pretty good, a little tire squealing around a long right hand banked curve, didn't hit any cones on THIS run.

I did earlier and have a decent scuff mark on the driver side to clean, plus it hit the tow hook hard enough to move it back. ;) Damn Chicago boxes.

I applied a bunch of Tesa tape and anti-squeak tape to both sides of the cargo cover hinges. This made the fit much tighter and at the same time made it much smoother to move. I'll test it out on a rough road today to see if it eliminates the rattling noise.

I did that, and added some dense, closed-cell foam tape to where the cover interacts with its seats. Helped remove a good bit of buzzing/vibration from back there.

Have you noticed that the factory placed felt pads on the cover hinges?
Well, that clearly wasn't enough to stop this piece of crap from rattling.

Yep that drove me crazy thinking it was the interior panels until I removed the shelf, and the issue disappeared. I then taped the hinge pivots, rear rubber isolator, and glued the tesa tape across all the edges where it touches the interior plastics. It's all silent now.

I absolutely did not see any sort of factory-installed vibration dampening when I was installing that.

Clearly not enough lol

Okay, now everything's checked out. No more rear-end rattling on any road or at any RPM.

Toyota should keep a record of all known rattling issues with this car, which are practically the same for all of us, on this forum.

I should start a build thread at some point, but here's what I did during the weekend :D

Those two bolts in the back were a pain to remove... I also forgot the CEL fix kit and got those annoying warnings for all Friday evening... 😅
Installed it the next day and after a code flush got everything working purrrety !

The OEM intake noises are great, but man this is something else, even flutters in some conditions !

Shifter feels solid now, no slop at all... I kept missing 2nd to 3rd with the OEM setup, now this feels great !

Next mod before winter will be the RacerX rear engine mount, still wondering if I should start with 70A or do 60A...

I'd always heard that the cops were pretty much "see nothing, do nothing" on the Tail itself, but if you were acting a fool, doing dumb shit on either end of the road, that's when they'd pull you over.

Is that not the case?
When I was there in April this is what I saw. The cops were not patrolling the TOTD but were looking for people speeding on the roads leading to it. I wasn't in my GRC but had my 2009 Turbo Corolla with me on that road trip. I got in several great runs and even though it rained the night before my car didn't seem to be bothered by the damp roads.

My eyes aren’t too keen for noticing shade difference’s in general but I totally see where you’re coming from! Currently, the very little bit of ocd I have is freaking out over the already matted portion of floor mat I’ve got after driving 400 miles this past weekend in the Catskills. Stupid left foot wasn't resting on the correct part of the floor mat lol. Insane considering these are brand new mats.
This is why I love my 3D Maxpider mats, best ones I've ever owned.

the grill was replaced cause of broken tabs. I've only dinged the bumper once when getting out of my driveway at the wrong angle smh. AFAIK, I have yet to drive into flying heavy debris to cause the grill tabs to break.
The clips will break just from downforce over time. As soon as I had mine replaced I took off the bumper and solved the issue for good.

I love my Racer X 60A pitch mount and if you don't track the car I think works perfectly.
