Track Toys

Since the GRC includes a membership to NASA and HPDE sessions, I thought it'd be fun to see what track toys our forum members are currently enjoying.

Lets see those builds! And if the GRC is your soon-to-be track toy, share what track you plan on visiting to find other forum members who will be taking their GRCs out there as well. I've already come in contact with forum members who attend my local track, and it's always enjoyable sharing these experiences with others.

I'd definitely label myself as a novice. I started tracking my Focus RS when I purchased it in 2020 (first time on the track). I had an opportunity to sell and upgrade, and now have a 2017 GT350R. Although the GRC will be my daily driver, it will see track time as AWD cars are always a fun (and safe) vehicle to take out and let loose with. I attend Utah Motorsports Campus which is half an hour or so outside of Salt Lake City. I attended Wednesday, as did @gregbo24 who I just managed to miss while I was out there.

Currently just have this for circuit duty. No real mods other than brake fluid, pads, and tires, mostly because it gets driven as a daily most of the year as well. And I can't be bothered to do much more to it since its plenty fast enough. Wish the steering was a little more direct, wish the intercooler didn't heatsoak, but overall it's a good car.

Used to race a 2013 FR-S, had a whole bunch more done. Ohlin Road and Track, 17x9 Gram Lights on proper sticky rubber, brakes, splitter, diffuser, etc. It was a damn good time, and I regret selling it I even crashed it and rebuilt it, which is when this picture was taken. Bought a BRZ after that but for some reason this beat up FRS always felt better.

I really want to get back into another 86, but even though I have more space and budget for it, now i just don't have the time. Life's a bitch haha. One day I'll get one and get back on track with it. Until then, the Supra does alright.

Both great, track focused cars. Glad to hear the Supra is quick and enjoyable, I don't expect to have the Shelby much longer and was looking that direction for a replacement. Or the 86 as well tbh :LOL:Toyota has done really well with that car and it would be fun to make a track rat out of it. Lacks the comfort and premium BMW features of it's big bro tho, so we'll see. Thanks for sharing!

I’m an unfortunate soul who occasionally tracks his daily. I also pretty consistently push it too hard, last week I got a check engine light on track for a secondary air system (valve needs replaced and sticks sometimes), blew a seal on my power steering pump, and also destroyed an axle boot. I only went off course twice, both times at the end of my 20 minute sessions when my PS4S started to give up. Thank god I have other cars to daily when it breaks. It will for sure be nice to not track a 15 year old car when the GRC comes in.

That's an awesome shot, sorry ATD had some casualties! What turns took you off track?
I've been debating getting the Lexus on track

I have a Mazdaspeed3, it's my daily driver and I've done 5 track days last year, 6 the previous. It's a ton of fun getting out on track, but honestly it's also really stressful since it's my only car and I live in an apartment, so to do any work on it I have to to drive 45 minutes to the parents' house, or rent a bay at a community garage which is also 45 minutes away. So I'm starting to look for a house with decent garage space.
My closest tracks are PittRace, MidOhio, and Nelson Ledges

Assuming I can get a house and winter beater, the GRC would be a daily driver during summer and would probably see occasional track use. I also really want to get a kei car just for fun.

Dang man, at least we have a track with a large run off areas! Turn 10 is a difficult one

Love it man, also love how well that car has kept it's value  Speed3s are awesome, and a decade+ later they still look good. Wish you the best with the house & other car purchases, until then I'm glad the Mazda has given you quite a few track experiences.

Funnily enough, I have 4 full HPDE days and probably 10 WoW/ATD nights and this was my first time on the west track. It definitely was interesting trying to figure out that last turn. Also my first time on the PS4S after being on RE71s for the last 2 summers and I forgot what a regular summer tire was like when it started to get toasty. 😅

Understandable  I think the east track suits awd cars a bit better, I enjoyed my RS on the east track but like the long turns on the west with the current car.

Forgot to say- when I was out on track there was a 5th gen 7 series sliding around. No mods that I could see/hear and stock wheels. I'm sure he burnt some tread and worked the brakes, but the big sedan seemed to do ok out there

Updated the track toy. Sold my Shelby last month and picked up a GR Supra 3.0 in California. Took it to the track last month with stock everything and I was pretty impressed tbh. It needed some modifications, so I ordered new wheels, tires, and brake fluid. I'll see how the pads are once I get some good fluid in there, after a few laps the brakes got real mushy.

With the new wheels and tires I went out to the track yesterday, and the brake fluid is still terrible lol. I'll have to check the water content cause it was bad. The Apex wheels and Falken tires felt great though, looking forward to bleeding the brakes and heading back out once the fluid shows up. I haven't driven a BMW z4, but I doubt it's anywhere near this car in regard to balance and handling. Gazoo really did good with it, impressed so far!

I wonder if this car is going to get a mid cycle refresh. The styling isn’t bad at all but Im curious. Nice ride man.
