Someone found out that Toyota has cleverly teased the GR Corolla on their Instagram page. At first glance this appears to be a standard photo of the Corolla hatchback. But if you look closer there are some juicy easter eggs.

In the dashboard it says G:16 for the time. The G16 is the turbocharged 3 cylinder engine Toyota uses in the GR Yaris (G16E-GTS)

In the navigation it says GR Four on a rd in the navigation (all-wheel drive)
In the climate control it says 2 68 (268 hp similar to the GR Yaris)

and lastly...the GR Corolla IS IN THE BACKGROUND!

Here's the original photo that Toyota used to make this teaser photo. Note that they also removed the speaker in the A pillar for some reason.

So the original post shows 268 in the climate control. This tells me that the 268 probably isn't relevant for GR Corolla. Hopefully it comes out with the rumored 296hp!

I'll never say no to more power haha. Hopefully it's just a reference to the engine but I still think it's likely this is going to be the GR Corolla's horsepower.
I feel like I'm in the movie "The Number 23" where Jim Carrey's character becomes obsessed with the number 23 and starts seeing it everywhere (nerd search "The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon" or "frequency bias"). Are these illusions or are they real!? Now whenever I'm reading text out in the wild real world, all I see is GR, AWD, and HOT HATCH o_O.

Legitimately the car I have been most excited about for years now. We're long overdue for some fully fledged Toyota sports cars. And this may be the first confirmation we've had of it outside of whispers from people at Toyota.
this is a better hint than my actual coworkers at toyota have leaked out lol

edit: wait, did anyone point out the 601.6 miles in the cluster yet? (G 16) I wonder if the original photo was meant to be a teaser since it had the 601.6 and the 2 68. But no one got it so it had to be more obvious

I've been waiting for this car to arrive ever since I realized that the GR Yaris would never show up in the states. I'm planning on adding this to my garage and be next to my 2009 Corolla S 5MT that I turbocharged, 2017 Corolla iM 6MT that has an additional 43bhp over stock, and my 1989 Supercharged MR2 5MT. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!

I actually have been told by my dealer contact that they have been getting information on the GR Corolla from Toyota so I know it's coming. I'm even the first on the waiting list! When I got the initial call from them that they heard about it they were amazed at how much I knew about it long before them. They are excited about how amazing this car will be.

It's always fun when you walk into a dealership about a car and know more than the person you're dealing with .

That happens all of the time! I never meet anyone that knows the cars like I do. 😂

I can not wait for this. I'm a huge rally fan and I was so disappointed when we weren't getting the GR Yaris. I love my FJ TT but I want something I can whip around in the snow and dirt at fast speeds while still being relaible unlike an STI or Focus RS. Plus old cars like the Celica GT-4 and older STI's are either hard to find and/or too pricey for a 20 year old car. To have something like this AND my FJ? That'd be a killer combo. Been keeping up with this car for 2 years and was so happy to hear from Toyota employees about a 300hp 3 banger AWD Corolla hatch coming our way

Welcome to the forum!
Are you planning to reserve one as soon as order books open?

Thank you!! And for sure! I'm so hyped to get one and I'm hoping I'll be the first in my area so I can really stand out with a fully rally build of it

Check with your dealer as mine already has a waiting list that I had them start earlier this year. There are many of us on it now.

Maybe the speaker being removed is that the GR Corolla won’t have engine noises playing through the speaker like the GR Yaris?

I think that speaker in the A pillar is part of the JBL system. Maybe the GR Corolla won't have that upgrade as an option. Only time will tell. If it does have the fake engine noise through the stereo it would be nice if that could easily be turned on/off through the stereo system.

Welcome to the forum @AMRx17. That seems likely to help keep the cabin quiet when driving at lower speeds.

Yeah I agree hopefully they don’t take the JBL system away because I’m really looking forward to that haha

Thanks for welcoming me!! But yeah I feel like that could be a possibility because a lot of people say they don’t like the noises through the speakers, at least the reviews on the Yaris that I’ve watched
