The GR Corolla has been named as one of the 13 candidates for the 2023 North American Car of the Year award. I think it stands a good chance against the competition.

  1. Acura Integra
  2. BMW i4 eDrive 40i
  3. BMW i4 M50i
  4. Genesis G80
  5. Genesis G90
  6. Maserati MC20
  7. Mercedes C Class
  8. Mercedes EQE
  9. Nissan Z
  10. Porsche Cayman GT4 RS
  11. Porsche 911 GTS
  12. Subaru WRX
  13. Toyota GR Corolla

The last time Toyota won anything (in this specific contest) was in 2004 with the Prius, lol.
As boring as the Prius is, it was way ahead of its time. A lot of the technology there was groundbreaking and leads us to where we are today.

Ironically, now that Toyota is hybridizing their entire fleet, the Prius isn't so special anymore.

I didn't mean for it to sound like the Prius didn't deserve it or anything - more that it's kind of surprising (but also kind of not) that Toyota hasn't received a "Car of the Year" award since...almost 18 years later!
I suppose decades of perfecting the same 3.5L V6 doesn't earn many brownie points. 😂

The fact they made the integra #1 makes me think whoever made this list is a moron
Eh... People had way too high expectations on the new Integra, imo. Is it a performance car? No, not really, but neither was the old base Integra. The Integra Type R, on the other hand, was.

I'll reserve my judgement on the new Integra until a Type R or Type S or whatever Type they choose comes out.
