From what I've seen so far, all signs point to the GR Corolla using the same turbocharged 3-cylinder engine as the GR Yaris, the G16E-GTS.

In the Yaris the G16E-GTS produces 257 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.

The good news is that there have been all kinds of go fast parts for the GR Yaris that will be able to be used for the GR Corolla for additional power. And I'm sure that many unique parts will be made for the GR Corolla too as this is supposed to be sold world wide.

For sure, anyone that wants to modify their GR Corollas will be able to hit the ground running. I don't think Toyota is going to change the engine much, if at all, from the GR Yaris.

This was a good watch, I saw it when it first came out last year.
Same, now we have a forum for the Corolla, I thought posting some old info might help some people get up to speed.

Yes I watched that as well the other eve. I know Iam a bit behind but I have been watching Motive Video mod there yaris.
I watch mod videos on the Yaris all the time just to get a basic idea.

I would say most of the upgrades should be available almost right away for the Corolla
This is more for a different thread but I honestly think where the GRC’s advantage will be over the Yaris, is aftermarket styling/kits. Since it’s more modest as far as it’s design, more aftermarket companies will have bumpers and things.

allows all of us to have unique cars while taking advantage of the G16e engine.

Agreed the Yaris is a rally for the road where this is going to be more of a sporty enthusiasts type with more creature comforts.. I did notice lastnight that I wasn't to fond of the look of the seats in the new GR86 where the ones in the Yaris have the GR on the headrests. The 86 had a GR badge on the steering wheel and the push button start. I would like one everywhere you can see. The shifter knob should have a GR on it the seats just to make it more special

Maybe the engine would motivate him to film and post something again. I'm sure a lot of racing companies state-side will love getting their hands on that engine
