I wonder if that MR2 looking one is the vehicle Toyota is supposedly working with Lotus on. That FJ Cruiser looking SUV has me excited! Hopefully it can actually perform off-road. Also Toyota is going to sell a lot of those electric pickup trucks!

Rivian is working on that. They're really pushing their EV's as nature vehicles for offroaders and campers and they want to set up stations around national parks and offroad parks. TFL offroaded a Wrangler 4xE and it got awful range in pure EV mode so I'm right there with you in having range anxiety on the trails. At least with gas, we can carry jerry cans with us on the trails. EV's have a long way to go before they're viable for every single person who drives. Our infrastructure just isn't there yetFrom what I took away from the Q and A is it’s all Toyota, but it is a concept.
Akio’s big thing seems to be driveability and trying to make the cars accessible in a way.
The FJ is great looking but off road EVs are kind of backwards. The idea of taking a EV in the wilderness with no form or real charging gives me range anxiety. (I’m constantly, hiking and going off road in my Tacoma)
Like the look (FJ), hate that it’s a EV.LFA successor looking real McLaren like in that front end but still interesting to see. They all look phenomenal. Bringing back the FJ as an EV seems very Hummer-esque and I'm not too sure how to feel about that.
I feel like it just doesn’t make sense for the activity, infrastructure and all.Rivian is working on that. I agree with that. They really push it onto us to save the enviorment but when you look at it, CO2 emissions of the general public are a fraction of what commercial vehicles and factories emit. Electric semi's are in the works from multiple manufacturers thoughI feel like it just doesn’t make sense for the activity, infrastructure and all.
Then again I believe the government needs to target big cargo ships, yachts, semi trucks etc more then the general consumer.
Agreed. A lot of people want the FJ back but as an ICE vehicle, not an EV. I feel if they green light the concept, Toyota is missing a huge mark on thatLike the look (FJ), hate that it’s a EV.
Furthest they shouldn’t went with that particular suv is MAYBE a hybrid, otherwise it should probably be petrol for its purpose.
LFA I would’ve made a hybrid just because the iconic characteristics of the supercar was its build quality and engine sound. It’s cool though, just not going to offer anything different then any other sporty ev.
Yup I hate it. It’s business for them though (government) more than “saving the world.” Bring up any of those points to a super gung-ho ev/Tesla lover and it’s like they plug their ears and scream.I agree with that. I 100% agree. I would happily buy a small FJ. Even if it had a basic turbo 4.Agreed. A lot of people want the FJ back but as an ICE vehicle, not an EV. I feel if they green light the concept, Toyota is missing a huge mark on that
Well this means the GRC will be the last of a dying breed boys!!!! Better keep the car and hang on to it so we can laugh at all the people who called our Rollas shitboxes 20 years later!I agree, a 4 cylinder turbo (even with a hybrid) FJ is one I would much rather have than an EV version.
I think the EV semi's first would've been an amazing decision to test since like you said, putting them at truck stops would work pretty well
