It looks like our Aus spec may be the Circuit Edition without the carbon fibre roof. Hopefully it has the two LSDs. And from what journalists have said in the past this and the Morizio will be the only two models we get.

I noticed as well which is disappointing, hopefully still pre production. Hope to see more details in the coming month.

I'm not surprised. Its likely we will get the Australian spec car also so basically you can forget about the Morizo and you will have one car to choose from.

Sounds essentially like its the CE spec without the CF roof or put another way a fully loaded core with an alloy bonnet.

Our market is just too small for "Multiple options" like the car will have in the USA.

Hopefully it has the LSD's or else its really just a base model core with an alloy bonnet. The problem with it here it may be spec'd to meet a certain price point so it could end up being even more disappointing for those waiting for one.

The Toyota order books open here in November, its going to be a single take it or leave it model of the GRC.

I believe that all models come with what you call "an alloy bonnet."
The only difference between the Core and Circuit bonnets is the Circuit is bulging with vents.
Both alloy I believe.

Would love to know the Australian spec as soon as it comes out. Cannot even tell what the seats are from that picture. Really surprised how slow Toyota are at getting out the specifications, I mean its not like they arrive at this stuff last minute. To enable production they must know months and months in advance.

Chances are super slim but it would be cool if Australian spec models got the Morizo seats, steering wheel and gear knob if they don’t do the CF roof
Honestly there is still a chance that Aus and NZ get a top spec model. It wouldn't surprise me if we got a single model that was a "Hybrid" of all the possible options to end up with something that is not available in the USA. JDM cars are always better spec than anything shipped to North America and we can tap into this because we are right hand drive also.

As I have said before our market has shifted big time from getting the poverty spec cars in the 1990's to the top of the line cars. I think it has been the massive shift to Euro cars now over here and people want the luxury and the branding and image that Euro cars bring. The number of Mercedes cars and BMW's here now is just crazy and the Golf GTI has always been the top of many peoples wish list.

The issue will still be the price point, it a very small window that will realistically be between $65K to $75K over here for a top spec. Sure if it comes out at $60K they will fly out of the dealers but I cannot see it at this price point.

Just remember my friend the more Morizo parts on the car the higher the price is going to be.
And your cars are priced very high to begin with.

I doubt there will be any Morizo parts on the car, if I want mine to be a Morizo I can chuck my own rear seats in the bin !!!!!

At best it looks to be the CE but just without the Carbon roof. Lets be honest here you don't need a carbon roof, it makes stuff all difference and fact is give people the choice of carbon and a sunroof most people would go sunroof.

Standard roof should speed up production and make it thousands of dollars cheaper.

The price is what it is, just like your market it has to fit into a segment that its competitive in. Hype is not going to sell the car over here, clearly our market is different.

We still have a top spec GR 86 for sale over here, its the only one in the whole country and its still not selling, price is now down to $62K so there is clearly no market here for a $70K GRC, they simply will not sell.

For anyone interested here is a link to the New Zealand website where you can search for the number of new cars registered in any given year.

This year there were just 37, yep that's a total of 37 of the 2022 GR Yaris sold new in New Zealand.

The year before that 129 and before that 25 so that's not even 200 cars in 3 years and that was a WRC homologation special so how many GRC's are realistically going to sell here ?

I'm 99% sure it's because they're struggling to produce them and people are waiting on theirs, not because people aren't buying them. I for one have been on the waiting list since the start of the year, so if they aren't selling then why the hell am I not able to buy one.

I think you could be right. After a lull in July and August Toyota NZ delivered 4 new GRY in September taking the total to 178. I think 200 have been sold in NZ or at least made available by Toyota NZ so they're gradually getting there. Perhaps there will be a new run offered in the coming months as has happened last week in Australia. I did ask my dealer contact but he hasn't replied so far.

There's also been 22 cars imported that were previously registered in Japan. I suspect there will be many more of these imports over the coming years assuming the government don't tax them too excessively. Second hand prices are starting to fall too, albeit for higher mileage cars.
