Stealership Thread (Dealers to avoid)

43575 Views 303 Replies 106 Participants Last post by  UT2004
We have a thread dedicated to normal dealers, it’s time to dedicate a thread to the ones to avoid.

Name and markups. Anything else you feel is a shady practice as well is welcome. Add some type of proof as well to avoid issues.

This can give buyers a chance to navigate the market better.

Toyota of Cool Springs in Franklin, TN. $10k over, and got very confrontational and angry when I told him that I’m not paying more than MSRP.

Quoting an email (spelling and grammar errors intact): “With the other dealerships waiting for one to go into alliocation that means they have not been told if they are getting one one or not. not every dealership will get one and thats why they cant promiss you anything. I can guarantee you that with these being limited numbers and they may not get another if they do get one they will not let it go at MSRP. They can say that to take you out of themarket, but if they get one they will just tell you it’s sold to avoid selling it at MSRP.”

So dealers and customers are lying, and you CAN’T get one at MSRP! :ROFLMAO:

Also: “you can fall for the 2k package deal which is a load as you already get free oil changes from toyota and all they are doing is putting a wax on the vehicle.”

Now I did misspeak in my email to him; I said that for $2k it was free oil changes that another dealership was promising for the $2k over. It wasn’t; the $2k got you rattle-can paint “protection” and tint. Worth $2k? Naa. But somehow with this guy $2k with something is worse than $10k that includes [checks notes] not a damned thing.

F**k these clowns.

Peruzzi Toyota in PA said that these cars are so rare that they are not selling their GRC that's on the lot at all.

aka they're gonna try to hold on to it trying to squeeze as much money out of some fool in a few months/years, but little do they know the car isn't as rare as they think it is
There are a couple other dealers in the area that seem to think the same thing. Still trying to get $10k-$20k over.

That has to be some of the dumbest s**t I’ve ever read!!! :ROFLMAO:

Do they actually even read Toyota press releases?! Specifically the one where they said they were increasing production??

Someone needs to go over there and tell them “looks like that GRC has been sitting awhile. Tell y’all what, I’ll take it off your hands for $30k!” :ROFLMAO:

This is hilarious. There are much better ways for them to make that same money... and more. Have they thought about creating a good relationship with customers and doing whatever they can (Like sell a car that a lot of people want to get their hands on) to create a good buying experience... If they would just focus on doing that and being honest... They would create life long customers, and have their customers bringing in family and friends to buy there too... CRAZY CONCEPT.

Let them ask! I find it entertaining to contact the dealer near me from a different number or email every once and a while and ask about the GRC they have, and then... as soon as they say ADM of 10k, I like to stop them, and inform them that I wouldn't pay 2k over MSRP for a base version of a car, that will have many more coming for sale in a years time.

Just reinforcing the intrusive fear thoughts in their head... That there ARE customers out there, that are willing to wait for a good price. Bend someone else over, I can be patient.🤙

Long time lurker, but this markup stuff/ dealing with dealers is really getting old.

Fort Dodge Toyota in IA - +5k. I jumped on their list in early Jan when I was told via email they would be at MSRP and only one other person in line. Now that they have an available allocation I guess its time to charge extra. The guy ahead of me backed out too - so thanks for holding the line stranger.

Anyone who pays a cent in ADM will surely have a sore anus, depending on how deep they go.🤣
It's by the inch.
ADM.
$2,000=2 inches.
$5,000=5 inches.
$10,000=up to the elbow.
$20,000=too painful to imagine.
"Sir, just bend over and take a deep breath, then we'll finish with the paperwork."😉

I'm half-tempted to start reaching out to some of these ADM dealers purely to waste their time. It's kinda like scam baiting. Could be worth a few laughs.

Love this reply, straight to the point.

I spend a couple hours a month bothering ADM Stealerships, just to get their hopes up, then letting them know I'd go find an MSRP dealer, even if I spend more money in gas/shipping to get that car from MSRP dealer.

This whole thing has been such a goat rope. I only started looking elsewhere since I went from being #1 on Walser list, to #2, to now apparently #2 on the Core only list. I had told them no black fairly early on, so I think that's why they (Walser) skipped straight to you when they got that black one - they didn't even call me to double check or anything when it was allocated. I figured there would be some issues, but I can be patient to a point... Seeing as Walser marked up that first one idk if I will be buying there either.

I haven’t looked on CarGuru, Autotrader, or any of the sites this entire time and I’ve had my deposit in for over a year now. Hope the dealership is making % on that 1k deposit because I sure AF ain’t.

So I did a 100 mile search. Found one that was marketed as loaded but was missing CWP in reality. Ad even stated “heated seats”. Dealer was super rude. ADM, then accused me of calling every dealer in the USA. Nah, first time I got a hold of any dealer that had one, at all, in over a year. I think I’ll stick to my deposit and the the 2 wait lists I’m on. Couldn’t believe how rude the guy was but I do understand if people are calling dealerships all over the USA every day. That would get annoying AF if you worked there. So I get it but there was no need for all that. Dealer was just over an hour from the house. I won’t be calling any more dealers.

Maybe they wouldn't get calls from throughout the US every day and actually sell the car if they weren't being greedy assholes with the ADM. I get the salespeople are probably frustrated with the calls, but they also don't have to fight to justify the ADM. They have the option to just end the call.

They could also do some real out of the box stuff by either listing their actual price, or marking pre-sold/ reserved cars as such too. I really dont think it would take that much effort on their part.

you may end up being 1st in line as I'll be taking delivery of a black core this friday from Karl Malone Toyota of Ruston, courtesy of @NolaPoizn. best part is that there is snow in the forecast!

I wouldn't be so excited about the snow unless you've already got some all-seasons or winter tires queued up. The PS4s are passable in light snow, but I'd be hesitant to do anything but side streets on them and stopping distance is a bitch.

Awesome! Glad you are getting one from a decent dealer- going to be sweet to see them running around the area.
