Stealership Thread (Dealers to avoid)

43819 Views 303 Replies 106 Participants Last post by  UT2004
We have a thread dedicated to normal dealers, it’s time to dedicate a thread to the ones to avoid.

Name and markups. Anything else you feel is a shady practice as well is welcome. Add some type of proof as well to avoid issues.

This can give buyers a chance to navigate the market better.

Make sure you have proof before posting, and please this is not the thread that you can have a conversation with members, your post needs to be more informative and have all the details

Maybe we can follow a format as well?

Toyota of Boardman -$15,000 markup

in Boardman, Ohio

Here's the email I got in return for an online inquiry only asking if they were honoring MSRP.

" We have not been told how many GR Corolla's we're going to get, however there is already a list with deposits holding any-all marked up $15k."

No emails, just in-person conversations. The image is taken from markups.org. They've wanted to charge me a $10k markup on 3 different cars, including the GRC.

Could we just update the ongoing dealer list so that there isn’t fragmentation in the threads?

This thread is mainly for very unprofessional/greedy dealers, easier for them to even see their names. Just a trial run for now. If it doesn’t really help I’ll add it to the dealer list.
So I talk to a Toyota dealer in Twin Falls, ID. He excepts a markup on the ones they sell. He gave an example that the TRD Truck they were selling had a 15,000 dollar markup. I would stay away from them as the other dealers said MSRP but we will see.

Cant post the call but have it recorded, asking 20k over sticker just to get on the waitlist.

LESSON IN WHAT NOT TO DO: Guy paid $10k mark up for manual Supra just delivered from NY to Florida…….”it is what it is….”. It is what you paid for it, and you over paid for it….🤣. From the looks of his YouTube site he has a Ferrari as well.

Subaru calls out dealers on markups. Guess I am taking my 40000 dollars to Subaru. Never doing business with Toyota.

Subaru CEO Letter:

Text from my latest exchange with a Stephen's Hometown Toyota:

"So i spoke to my manager and he said he is not taking any deposits on the GR Corolla because we have so many people waiting that it will be on a first come, first serve basis, also we will have a $10K market adjustment over MSRP on this vehicle so if you're thinking of $45K it will be the base model because starting MSRP will be around $35K, if you're still interested i can let you know as soon as one get so on our allocation."

I send a text to opt me out.

Buddy thinks inventory won't return to previous levels but the only thing they've done to try and work around that is add ADM? That seems like a poor way to run a business but that's just me.

Got a quote from a dealer outside of Washington, DC asking for $60,000 for a Core w/ performance, cold weather, and technology packages. Unbelievable.

Post a pic of the quote. Let's make these markups go viral and hopefully gain the attention of the media and corporate HQ.
