That makes the assumption that he didn't have a good alignment. A good track alignment can take full advantage of the grip the tires can offer. Also, a FWD biased AWD car going into FWD mode will only really hinder exit speeds by means of overpowering the front axle easily, something the CTR is better equipped to manage. The car is otherwise still the same and still balanced the same. Power was not pulled, so is straight line speed was only affected by the initial drive out of a corner. Down the straight he still had plenty of speed. The CTR had braking issues after a couple laps and was in a sort of limp mode as well. It's not quite the track monster everyone makes it out to be, it just feels better in that environment. There's a lot of track drivers that simply aren't able to, or don't want to push a car to 10/10ths even though they think they can.

FFS Why does the CTR not have a goddamn oil temp sensor? WHO DOES THAT? Oh yeah, Toyota and their transfer cases.

I don't think saying the car "goes into limp mode" is accurate. Limp mode to me means the engine rpms and power are dramatically reduced. This car just goes into FWD mode, right?

If you go to 12:20 min mark in the video, Jack initially didn't even know he had switched to FWD until he looked down at the gauge cluster. So, you still have a GRC with $25,000 worth of upgrades. I'm not surprised he was able to hold the lead for one lap. More laps,...?

Like literally the same session that the car goes into FWD only mode the tires get destroyed or they just wear faster? Because if they just wear faster than it's hardly different from other consumables that wear at various rates depending on the people driving and what the setup is that they're using.
