Hi, all. I saw the thread on the Trail Teams FJCruiser and felt inspired to share a little of my own history.

Working backwards:

2002 4Runner - Mild Build
  • Sonoran Steel lift
  • 32" ATs
  • White Knuckle sliders

I never really took this on more than forest roads, but it was a great daily for a few years. We moved, and I only wanted to bring one car, so we kept the '16 T4R.

1995 Land Cruiser - Moderate
  • OME lift (heavies in the front, medium in the rear)
  • 35" Nitto MTs
  • Slee ShortBus front bumper
  • Iron Pig Off-Road rear bumper, skid plate, sliders
  • Factory lockers

Had this for 10 years. Cream puff when I bought it, but had probably not a straight body panel when I sold it a couple years ago. Just before the market for these took off. Of course.

1975 Land Cruiser
  • Mild shackle lift
  • 32" MTs
  • Aussie locker in the rear

This truck was my entry into wheeling and was my daily driver for years. Loved it. Felt guilty about beating it up and not keeping as up on maintenance as I should, so I sold it. Two years too early for the market. (sigh)

Damn dude don’t feel bad for wheeling them! I feel bad for the people that build them only to suffer down the road getting 10mpg 😂

Im jealous you had the opportunity to actually drive these things how they should be driven! It’s too hard to find an 80 with lockers for affordable money, and it’s wayyy too hard to find a 40 in any condition. I had almost no choice but to get a 4.0 Jeep when I was looking for something with a beam up front.

Oh, I only felt bad banging up the 40. I was still in good shape (aside from the cut rear wells), and there aren't many left.

And you're right - I was fortunate to get to do all this while old trucks were cheap. Too bad I missed the boat on cheap Miatas and 911s!
sweet trucks. My favorite of yours is the '95.
Definitely using them as they should be used

Nice!! A couple 4x4 over the last 20 years, pretty much the only thing I’ve driven since I’ve been able to drive. Still drive an 80 series and the wife has a GX460

All great rigs, but that 1st gen 4Runner is my fav. Always wanted an old mini truck.
Also, is that last 80 on 40s?!?!

1st gens are great, I love them. The bottom two 80s we’re both on 40s - a little trimming was required lol

Ah, flashbacks from a former life! You ain’t lived until you’ve wailed away on a tree trunk with a tie rod until it’s straight enough to sleeve it with a hi-lift handle so you can make the drive home.

That spline torque looks good and gnarley!

I really do regret selling my 3rd gen T4R but the Northeast salt was getting to her and it would be too much to fix. Have always wanted to get an FJ40 to match my FJC but as you know, the market for them is insane. Love your 80 series LC, always wanted a RHD diesel one. That is one hell of a 4x4 lineup
