OEM widebody or regular Corolla hatch body?

So I'm hearing conflicting information about if the GR Corolla will be wider than the regular corolla hatch. Some say it will have slightly wider rear quarter panels and front fenders and some say it will be no different than the current corolla hatch.
I'm hoping for the former vs the latter. Nothing crazy like the GR Yaris, but definitely noticeable kinda like how you can distinguish the Lancer Evo wideness when compared to the base model lancer.
The only still shot of the promo GR Corolla definitely doesnt show an extreme widening like the GR Yaris, but doesnt exactly look to have the same dimensions as the current corolla hatch either, or are my eyes deceiving me? I know the artist rendition of the GR corolla that was in the japanese magazine a while back doesnt seem to be accurate as the widebody on that drawing looks to be similar to the GR Yaris widebody. What's interesting is the front fenders in the still shot of the actual car and the drawing do seem to look very similar especially the vent.
Pics for attention.
What do y'all think?

It seems really unlikely to me that they will retool the rear door or the body section between the rear doors and the bumper- that would be really expensive for a low volume car. And with the wheel opening so close to the rear door, I don't see how they could add on a separate flare or wide-body element (like my old Renault R5 Turbo) that wouldn't look ridiculous. I suspect the only things that will be different from the normal Corolla on the rear will be a bigger roof spoiler and a more dramatically styled rear bumper.

Also noticed that the most recent tease has no indication of bulges fenders either front or rear.

All I’m gonna say man is one is an actual leak of the car from Toyota themselves, the other is a magazine render with some rumors attached. It will be a little wider than a standard Corolla but for the most part it it looks the same.

I'm thinking the same. A little bit wider like how a Lancer Evo is when compared to a base model lancer. I would be really dissapointed if the body between the GR corolla and the regular corolla hatch is virtually identical besides different front and rear bumpers.

From leaks so far that’s exactly what it is. I personally like it

Comparing the leak to the standard car at similar angles, it seems like the rear has a little more width to it, but the front seems much more subdued, if there even is any change.

I'm thinking the opposite. The front fenders actually look wider and actually look identical to the drawing with the black vent that appears the same between the 2
I don’t think that’s a vent in the front fender, I think that’s just a black segment in the camo pattern. Five bucks says the only different panels will be the front and rear bumpers, which are plastic and as such much less expensive to retool than the fenders or doors.

God I hope not.... That would be disappointing to say the least... I mean I like how the corolla hatch looks, but not widening the body and just throwing an AWD system in it just seems lazy..
I've been reading a bunch of insiders who claim it will have a widebody look.
I mean why camo the entire car if all you are changing is the front and rear bumpers?

If all that's changed between the 2 are different front and rear bumpers, im switching my deposit from a GR Corolla to a 2023 Manual Supra. A factory widening of the car is a must have for me unfortunately.

Gotta save from for revisions, lol. I'm sure once the GRCHB, if not initially, will slowly evolve till it peaks out at GRMN CHB. There is another post that said the Corolla is likely getting a facelift soon, which would obviously impact the GRCHB (or maybe it was the other way around? Hmmm).
I can’t believe nobody has yet taken the initiative to “unmask” or otherwise photoshop the GR Corolla using the official image provided by Toyota.

First of all, that image is incredibly low res. And I understand why. But Isn’t there a way to enhance it and make it look better?

If I knew Photoshop, you better believe that I would have taken the time to play with that picture. October isn’t exactly around the corner and I would hate having to wait that long to see this car.

Personally, I am convinced that the GRC will disappoint me in the looks department. It may have the most amazing specs, but if the body is too similar to the regular Corolla hatch with some fake vents or what not, this will be a hard pass for me.

I certainly hope that I’m wrong. I’d rather be wrong than right in this case because I truly was looking forward to this car. The official camo image from Toyota does, to me, look no different from regular Corolla hatch (minus a few weak fender vents).

I’m actually cross-shopping this car with the upcoming Civic Type R, which looks incredibly aggressive. I know that it’s probably not a popular thing to say around here. AWD is nice, but it’s not a must-have for me. If both cars are killer, I may just own both.

It's pretty clear by the camo car that the GR Corolla will have a plastic rear fender flares just like the current Civic Type R. You can see the abrupt crease right after the rear door where it meets the plastic flare just like it does with the CTR. Looks like Honda is going with a real wide body on the new one as those fenders are definitely flared more than the standard Civic. The only issue with the new Civic is the weird sloping forehead look from the hood down to the grille.

From the source picture, processing it likely wouldn't yield any interesting or fun results. It also wouldn't be reliable. Like that questionable black 'vent'? There simply isn't enough pixels and it would be guesswork. I think we can gather exactly what we can gather from first glance and enhancing it would bring nothing new.

Image enhancing is best for known objects / environments (if something is fuzzy, you have a known reference of what it is suppose to look like). You can also make reasonable predictions if nothing is available (a car has a car shape, you can expect wheels are certain intervals, doors, windows, etc).

But if you want the nitty gritty of an unknown...
I love reading all your comments 🍿

I was about to pull the trigger yesterday on a 2022 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab Pro-4X but wife called me and she gave me so many reason that if I really want to wait for the GR Corolla to be released, I should wait because she knows that I really wanted the GR Yaris that wasn’t offered to us, I was so obsessed with it that everyday I always talk about it with her, and she made it clear. LOL!

So for now, my only concern is the GR Corolla should have AWD and can offer big brakes. The look will just be my 2nd on the list.

question, how wide does the GR Yaris?
The GRY is 71.1" wide total. 2.4 inches wider, 2.2 inches longer, and has a roof line 1.8 inches shorter than the standard Yaris

How wide is the current Corolla hatchback?
I think it will definitely be wider, but with add on parts like the FK8. (not like the new CTR or the WRX/STI with actual bespoke body panels)

Another thing to think about is that we don't know if the official image is a production vehicle with a wrap or a simple test mule with regulr CHB's exterior.

That is hilarious to read because my wife is so sick and tired of my obsession with the GR Yaris that she is literally forcing me to get the GRC.

She knows how extremely dissatisfied I was with Toyota’s decision to not bring it here. It was a real crisis in our household 😆

Like, I wouldn’t shut up about it for months. At this point, she knows more about the GR Yaris than most enthusiasts. I kid you not.

My guess with the weight, it should perform inbetween a STi and a regular WRX
