Eh there’s still the WRX for 32k. (Not counting the top trim)

I think some will want to, but like I said before no one is getting into a GRC as easy as you could a STi. 😂

We’ll see though

I'm torn on it. I think many will switch to a Golf R, if only because they're more well known and very mod friendly.

That’s a interesting take. Are we talking about price range too? Cars with AWD or just in general for the price range?

I guess I was mentally framing it as daily drivable, AWD cars, ignoring price. Granted, a Golf R and an STI weren't too far off in price. I think they're 34k and 37k respectively, at base.

Idk. All of us here are clearly excited for this car, but most of my car friends or people I just generally talk cars with have no idea it's coming. That'll likely change whenever the official reveal happens, but for now it's still kinda low profile, which is why I lean towards the Golf R or a heavily modified WRX as most people's solution to the lack of an STI. I would love to see aftermarket "STI-like" conversions too. Like how you can pay Roush to modify an F150 or a Mustang.

Golf R starts at 43k US, 2 grand from that you’re getting into the Audi/luxury AWD territory.
Yup. I’ve already checked and yes, it’s going to heavily increase demand for the GRC, which sucks, but I already have a deposit in like you so F it. Let them Boobaru cult mafk’s eat cake. I left Booby in 2012 for lack of engine development, lack of AWD development, etc. Looks like the one guy was right when he had inside intel stating Booby was having problems getting power out of the 2.4L DIT and they were talking about throwing the same old EJ into the new car. I’m laughing because Booby phoned it in. Well to quote William Brocious “Well bye”.

Nobody really shared anything but opinions lol. Subaru fans will be alright since there’s still the WRX.

Definitely think there will be a slight increase but Subie boys will be Subie boys so they'll either stick with the WRX or just get the previous gen at a discount

I can't imagine Subie fans jumping over to the Golf R, those 2 groups despise each other to no end.

That is true, I see Subie guys talking bad about the GRC even. Lol.

Subaru and Acura making themselves look bad is making Toyota and Mazda look good IMO. Before you say anything, the GR86/BRZ exists mainly because Toyota wants it, Subaru doesn't really care about it.

They think they are in the position to bad mouth others when they themselves fanboy over a car manufacturer that is now known for making ugly and boring looking cars and not really putting much effort to improve their cars as a whole.

You know how it is. Worst thing to ever happen to Subaru in my opinion happened back in 2014 when Mitsubishi announced the EVO being discontinued. They were kinda coasting for awhile since.

Yeah, they were slacking off already and it only got even worse. Many of Nissan's, Mitsubishi's and Subaru's cars have become just reskins of reskins of outdated components, as a someone who likes Japanese cars it's a sad sight to see.

Nah. They won’t. You had a whole lot of buyers waiting for the new STi. We’re talking grown ass men who owned an ‘04 on up wanting to grab another and dip. The WRX is not a STil The STi has 3 diffs, the WRX has one. It’s not the same car by a country mile.

Those 3 have had some financial or production woes though so it makes sense.

I can see that. We’ll see, I think it’ll be funny watching them try and jump into a GRC like a STi, especially If the GRC is similar to the Yaris as far as production goes.
Doesn't change much IMO. Demand for the GRC was always going to outstrip supply as with the Civic Type R.

Exactly, 100% agree
