Here's hoping this is good. I'm a big fan of the Ford Maverick and would love to see Toyota and GM/Chevy put out competitors. Bring back the small truck!
What platform would it be built on? (I haven't watched the video yet)

Wouldn't be surprised if its not based off the TGNA-platform that is used for the Rav4 etc. Probably would be more of a soft pickup like the maverick based off the ford escape and such. Deff wouldn't be based off the Tacoma, tundra platforms.

Lol I think it’s cool but mavericks are so overpriced right now they’re touching on ranger and f150 money so Toyota better be careful or it’ll be another small truck that’s priced as much as a Tacoma

I mean the Tacoma started off as a small size truck and has grown to a midsize truck. I have a first gen and that thing is smaller than a Maverick. I would love if Toyota made a $20k small truck and fit a hybrid powerplant in there. $20k, Toyota reliability, 40+MPG, and the ability to haul around stuff in the bed?? Sounds like a winner to me! I mean you wouldn't be able to tow anything with it, but who tows anything with a 4 cylinder truck anyways?
40+ mpg.....yeah baby. 🤞
New Stout 1600: Give it the G16(it fits the 1600), make it RWD or 4x4, that's it, that's all I care about

I mean the RAV4 hybrid gets 41mpg... So 40mpg is doable in a small truck based off the RAV4 including the hybrid RAV4 power train.
Are you talking about ADM? My FIL just ordered his second Maverick at MSRP. He has one of the base models, decided that he wanted some upgrades and ordered a Lariat I think.

Probably so. ADMs are ruining the purpose of the Maverick. If you can find them at MSRP, they're a fantastic budget option. With a 10k ADM, you may as well buy a Ranger.

I like this idea of Toyota, who remember this:
I'd be super interested in a cheap Toyota small pick up. Honestly I don't have a ton of need for a huge truck but a small one would fit the bill for quick trips to Home Depot or moving things.

Was at a Ford stealership saw a ranger with $2k markup and a Maverick with $5k mark up, lol makes zero sense considering the Maverick was more expensive then the Ranger.
As someone who hates how big and bloated trucks have become this is great news. Nobody around here will buy one, because they just buy their current oversized junk purely to clog up parking lots, but it's nice to know the option exists.
As long as it has good towing capacity, I'm all for it! I'm very much not a truck person but part of me is looking for the smallest possible vehicle that can tow a track car.
