I don’t understand why it’s only a 4 seater…
4-seater is likely due to the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) which is the maximum weight a car can "safely" handle. Civic Type R has lower GVWR compared to a regular Civic hatchback that seats 5.

2023 Type R weight: 3,188 lbs
2023 Type R GVWR: 3968 lbs
You got about 780lbs to spread out among 4 passengers

2023 Civic HB weight: 2932-3102 lbs (depending on trim)
2023 Civic HB GVWR: 4056 lbs
You got about 954-1124lbs to spread out among 5 passengers

Integra Type S is likely a near identical carry over of the Type R.

I just came back from the Acura dealer, while there is no confirmed pricing, they estimate the ITS will come to around CAD $60k and trade-in required. Interesting tho they say not too many people are willing to trade (can guess why?? 🤣)

I blame Acura for under-advertising this so they gave some people a chance putting a deposit since FL5 is still impossible.
I don't really buy that. It's pretty common for most vehicles to have a GVWR roughly 1000 lb over curb weight. You don't seem seats being removed over that.

I agree 1000lbs over curb weight is fine for 5 ppl, and thats what the regular Civic hatchback has. I found the regular Integra info and its GVWR is 4001 lbs and its curb weight 3073-3150lbs.

But the Civic Type R (and likely the Type S) only have 780 lbs over curb weight. Im guessing it has to do with the suspension. If they tuned it to carry a higher max weight it would likely have a negative impact on performance. For the Type S im guessing its cheaper to carry it over than redo it and pass wtv certification would be needed.

Heres an image of the FL5 Type R's door label:

My S2000's GVWR was comical. It was 400 lb over curb weight. And I weigh 200 lb so...the bumper sticker def said "no fat chicks"

Put deposit down yesterday. I am 3rd at that dealership. They are supposed to get 2 in July, a black and a white.

I have deposit on FL5 also. Thinking the ITS will arrive 1st.

Similar - number 2, expecting a unit in July. Haven't heard specifics about which colours are coming first, but I'm willing to wait a little to get what I want.

The Acura dealer is miles ahead of Toyota as far as communication goes. I've been getting unprompted updates and continued confirmation of my spot in queue. This is how you keep customers engaged and reassured.
Integra Type S base MSRP is $51,995

I'm old enough to remember back in the 90s when an Integra Type R cost as much as a Supra Turbo. Anyone else?

Oh wait, no I don't remember that. Because it never happened. These prices are laughable.

Technically, we're now in the days where a Corolla (CE or ME) costs as much as, if not more than a Supra (2.0)

I think the price hike over the CTR is a little steep.

Integra Type S offers heated seats, HUD, power driver seat, ELS audio sound system. I don't believe those features alone warrant a $7k+ price bump.

I think many people thought that there would be some cost savings on R&D since the engine/transmission is the same as the Type R except for a little tuning here and there to squeeze out 5 more HP

Is it just by virtue of having the Acura badge then?

The only silver lining here is that Acura's are more easily had at MSRP

The only way this is a good buy is if you can get it at MSRP while the CTR is $10k over sticker.

You guys wanna hear a joke: The CivicXI forum thought it would be under $50k.

In all seriousness, I still don't think this apparent reuputation of Acura dealers not marking up cars will continue with the ITS.
