Controversial, I know. I worked at a Toyota dealer for decades. I'm blessed to be at the top of the call list. I initially said I wanted a Heavy Metal Circuit Edition and nothing else. As more info actually becomes available, I'm rethinking my position. First drawback is that the Circuit Edition won't come out until next spring. That's ok, I could wait. But all the early pics showed the matte finish charcoal which I thought was the Heavy Metal. It's not. That is a Morizo Edition only color at a hefty premium! I don't want a Morizo Edition! And it's not the matte finish, it's a Lexus-ish silver. Meh. I might, but SS Red has suddenly become much more appealing to me. So let's get down to features. If you got a Core Edition with the three big option packages, what are you losing? Carbon roof, bulged, vented hood, and different seat material. But you get the front vents and rear wing of the Morizo, for a few grand less. Both hoods are aluminum, and the Core actually shares a couple things with the Morizo that the Circuit doesn't. I do see a discrepancy regarding tilt/telescopic column which could make a difference to me, personally. Am I missing more?

When I saw the two cars at the reveal in the studio, I thought I wanted the heavy metal because of the lighting, it almost looked fluid.
Now that I've seen the grey now without the studio lighting, I'm leaning more towards supersonic red as well.
I've never owned a red car, and currently my other car is grey.
Not sure I want 2 grey cars.

One thing is for sure, if you ever decide to sell it, it will fetch a higher price just because of the "Circuit Edition", which will be more rare as well. Options wise, its give or take, whatever you prefer more. Personally just the interior alone looks much better than the Core, and honestly, at that price for the Core, it should of came like that, more upscale, not just a regular Corolla interior.

The unconfirmed but seemingly likely suspicion is the Circuit Edition will likely be replaced by a similar (but differently-named) "special edition" for the next model year. So it may end up being less special.

Personally I'm going for a Perf Pack (or loaded if that's what's around) Core.

It has already been said that special editions will be part of their strategy for GRC. The problem is that future MY and special editions will be subject to price creep plus the state of inflation, so waiting it out will be an equally tough situation. If more American states start jumping on the wagon to ban ICE cars, that could pivot the road map for GRC. What if one day Toyota pulls a Veloster N, cuts the lifespan of this car, stops further production, and what available allocation gets scooped up and hoarded? Everything is pretty f'd.

Im also on the fence about this. Is that $7k! really worth the cost of a nicer set of seat material, red stitching, carbon roof and hood bulge and vents? I don't think so. I have settled and have a deposit on a Core with Cold weather and Performance Pack. And may wind up just getting the roof wrapped. I put in the request for a White core. it just seems like a huge leap for not much more. Also does the CE even come standard with the Cold weather or Tech? Doesn't seem to add up. Also that interior for $42k lol meh.

Yes, CE comes standard with all three big option packages, Performance, Technology, and Cold weather. When you add those three packages to a Core, it's still several thousand dollars difference. What I can't find in the literature is the presence of tilt/telescopic steering column on the Core. That would actually be important to me. I can't imagine the Core NOT having it, I just can't find anything to corroborate one way or the other.

I was wondering if anyone else thinks it's wise to move up to the Circuit Edition? I really want the audio package so I think that may be move, cause the we gave my core edition setup all it needs is the hood vents and roof and it would be the exact same.

This also gives me more time to build up my down for a better loan and honestly that sounds really enticing!

Thoughts?

It's all whatever you wanna do man. The roof is going to be your biggest pain to add to a Core if you really want that, otherwise it's probably better to get a Core w/ PP and TP and do the hood later. Would be a lot easier too since CE's are limited to 1500 and good luck finding any without ADM
