for some yes but others would rather just stick with oem and not worry about warranty issues.

I hope that’s not the case. I just completed a survey from the owners intersection ( or what ever they call it) recently and one of the questions among many were would you be interested in a tune upgrade (for a cost of course). The whole survey was geared to upgrades iirc.

 

RIP. Will go the ecutek route and upgrade the rear suspension to meet updated specs in the future, or coilovers.

 

Even if Toyota offers the software upgrade to US market MY23 and MY24, how much would it cost? If it is gonna be out of pocket expense, you might as well get an aftermarket tune.

 

I believe it was either $1,200 or $1,500. Can’t remember exactly but one of these. I suppose if a majority said not interested maybe they won’t offer it.

 

I found it amusing that people thought an upgrade tune would be free.

I for one didn't expect it to be free, if a business can find a way to make money, they will. I would just like the official reasoning from Toyota NA on why they're not offering it.

It's fine they said they're not going to offer it, but tell me why.

 

I think the lack of US availability has more to do with emissions than anything. Getting emissions certifications in the US is quite expensive for manufacturers.

 

better off with a custom tune anyways, I have a '25 and I just bought a ecutek from Limit+1.

 

I foresee someone complaining on this forum that:
1) got bootleg ECU tune from MY26 on their MY23 or 24
2) engine blew up
3) all Toyota's fault

Our tiny 3 turbo cylinder engine is already fairly high strung from the factory. As a daily street driven vehicle that also needs to be reliable, I am not sure I want to extract any more output.
If i wanted more power on a daily vehicle, i will just to back to bigger displacement engines.

 

I miss the original super soaker (tank on the top and shotgun action), im sure that ended because of a lawsuit.
