I mean you could say this with any country. I long debated a move to the UK to be with some friends and own one. I'd personally move to Japan before I moved to Mexico to own one though
I don't believe you can in the statesI'm surprised someone with dual citizenship doesn't bring one up.
You can but only as a tourist and you need permission from U.S. customs. There's a certain limit of time you can have it in the states as a tourists though. It was mentioned in another thread that the GRY was brought from MX to the U.S.A. for some Toyota engineers to drive and compare to the GRC. I'm just surprised the GRY is sold in Mexico! That was news to me. I wouldn't be surprised if those who own it would be the "exclusive" people of the country. My family is from MX and I've never heard of anyone buying a brand new car.I don't believe you can in the states
Yeah I knew about that but I was pretty sure owning one is a whole different story. As far as I know, the only way to own a car not sold here before the 25-year mark is the Show And Display Act which the GR Yaris wouldn't qualify for unless it was the GRMN or the Mexico launch editions but you won't be able to drive those cars much. I'm surprised the GRY sold well in Mexico. They did that first 300 as a test and it did very well clearlyYou can but only as a tourist and you need permission from U.S. customs. I remember there were some importers in Florida that were buying cars disassembled from Japan, then reassembling them once they got state side, and they had to be registered and insured as kit cars. I'm pretty sure the company I'm talking about got shut down in 2020, but there were a few others finding loopholes to bypass the 25 year law... which may also have been shut down. Florida had a lot of shady importers...Yeah I knew about that but I was pretty sure owning one is a whole different story.
