Now that we have some specs on the GR, lets dream build a GRMN. Horsepower figures, chassis reinforcement, suspension, carbon bits, etc.

I guess speculating on what a imaginary GRMN Corolla will be, should be fun.
Carbon hood, race seats, no rear seats, bracing, maybe a roll hoop in back, exhaust, maybe slight boost, forged rims. Rally edition with mod suspension, skid plates.
Oh, and 500 units exclusive to nortg america!

Kidding...

My very first exterior mod will likely be the duck tail spoiler that currently available from TOM'S.

Here's some cool bits I found at Toyota Japan's GRMN Yaris site (bottom footer)

TLDR: Looks like there will be on-going ECU tune updates, and personalization tuning based on telemetry data collected on the vehicle... for a fee. This service truly makes the GRMN edition very unique.

The ever-evolving GRMN Yaris
-Update Program-
With light weight as a weapon, GR Yaris has won various races such as rallies, dirt tracks, and circuits.
There is no way to prevent problems that occur one after another in each race, and he has evolved into a strong car that can be stepped on safely and with peace of mind by repeatedly breaking and fixing it.
There is no end to evolution at the race site, and GRMN Yaris continues to evolve in response to that feedback.
As an update program, we are first preparing for an engine update that is being trained and strengthened through the race.

-Personalization program-
An engineer who knows the field of motor sports analyzes the driving data of the owner.
At GRMN Yaris, in addition to "software" such as steering control, engine control, and drive distribution, it is possible to finely optimize "hardware" such as absorber damping force, spring rate, and aerodynamic parts according to the driving skills of each owner. ..
By controlling the weight transfer like a professional racing driver and setting the running that draws out the grip of the tire to the full, you can make it the best match for you so that you can move as your own limbs. can.

So we all know the Circuit edition is coming for the 2023 model year but how long before the next special edition. Would it be as early as 2024? Also what would it comprise of? (Just color?)

Speculation time!
If there is one, I think it will be a GRMN. Toyota hasn’t really deviated from the GRY model designation yet. I posted this in another thread:

  • rear wiper delete
  • upgraded suspension
  • 15 hp boost
  • true bucket seats
  • shorter gearing
  • mechanical LSD's front and rear
  • 50 lbs weight savings
  • $10k price increase over core

Disclaimer: Toyota defines a mechanical clutch LSD as “mechanical LSD”. It’s what the GRMN Yaris got. Not the same thing as Torsen.

We’re definitely getting some variations of CE’s or colors.

A GRMN would be cool.
I think it will be more akin to the 86 and supra special editions (ie. special colors, interior). Hopefully the future special editions will retain the carbon roof and vented hood. I don't think there will be a GRMN version, at least not one that comes to the US. GRMN models have been extremely limited and only released in Japan and Europe markets.
Interesting thought, I think a lot would depend on how long they're producing the GRC.
I think it would be akin to what we saw with the Yaris, the one shown at the Tokyo auto saloon back in jan

under this logic, if the corolla is only for the u.s, then we not be getting a GRMN, but considering how much toyota hyped this thing, i think they know that we would love a GRMN version

Maybe maybe since the GRC released in NA first they'll diverge and do a GRMN for NA? Unlikely, but one can dream. Since the promos like to bring up rally heritage for the GRC, maybe they'd do a Rally edition like the GRMN Yaris.
As for special editions, I think theyll be colors and the carbon roof. I'm thinking they might keep the hood exclusive to the first run? But maybe since its no longer a Launch Edition Toyota will not care so much for keeping something exclusive to the edition? I'm pretty sure the signed knob will be exclusive to the first CE. Possibly wheels.

i belive the roof is only for the circuit edtion, and that is a first year only edtion, in addtion to only 1500 of them going out
With the Circuit edition having more options then the Core, it wouldn't make sense offering it for only one MY. The tooling to make the hood, forged carbon roof, rear spoiler alone would be a waste. Unless they offer those as a package option on the Core later on then it would make more sense.

From Motor1

The Circuit Edition will be a one-and-done version of the hot hatch, available only for the 2023 model year. It comes standard with numerous upgrades including limited-slip differentials for the front and rear axles, a carbon-fiber roof, synthetic leather upholstery, the up-spec stereo, heated seats, and other goodies that are optional on the GR Corolla Core. The carbon-fiber roof isn't an option; neither is the Circuit Edition hood with a sizable bulge and functional vents.

That wording just means that the "Circuit Edition" won't be offered for the following model years. They could take the exact same spec of CE and rename it the "Track Edition" and their claim of the Circuit Edition being one and done would still be accurate. The fact they went through the effort of making the tooling for the hood makes me think it will be on future special editions. Probably the same for the roof, TBH. The wing will probably be offered as an accessory to they can get some economy of scale out of that.

I'm aware that the Circuit Edition is going to be a one MY release. It'll be offered in different releases though.

Where would the 50lb weight savings come from? It won't be from front bucket seats alone. Maybe a rear seat delete too?
