Again, for those holding out for a CE.

Suede interior gets worn out quick especially the steering wheel. Gloves or not, you might as well buy 2 spare steering wheels or cover the steering wheel lol.

And if you REALLY want an OEM CF FRP hood currently it’s ONLY $14,000 online

And if you’re curious how to do it, check out this install on a Supra.

I’m almost certain there will be an aftermarket option available eventually for our car, but if you’re curious on the process, here you go

Disagree. The STI had full drivetrain upgrades over the WRX. Better front, rear, and center diffs. Better brakes. Better transmission. Better suspension. Better engine. A base Core to a Circuit is literally just the front and rear diffs (the center "diff" is the same); everything else is the same.

Clarify what you mean because we have no center diff lol. I’m assuming you just meant end to end? Core is open diffy unless you get the performance package.

The roof is way more than $5k. I saw the listed price and my jaw dropped. I wanted to see what it would cost to properly “circuit edition” swap a core model and even as an employee it would be cost prohibitive.
That's not the point, the point I'm making is that the value just isn't there. The price difference between the Core and CE is not more than $14k which is what the roof costs at a discount lol.

@wind_slash yep. I normally never buy first year cars, but this was too good to pass. I test drove it before buying. I know they’ll get better over the years but people are fooling themselves thinking this car will get any cheaper. Cars ALWAYS increase in price (looking at the “$15-$20k” FRS when it was set to first release but quickly went to 30).

I expect the future versions of the GRC to be $40/$48/$60k respectively.

Ok, I'll play along.

I could see them making the packages on the core standard and that's how you get to $40k for the core. What exactly do you see them adding to the CE to justify a $5k mark up and same for the ME to justify $10k?

Secondly, $48k-$60k puts you right into Supra territory, a car that Toyota also sells. Not to mention all the other cars at that price point, which is a conversation people have already had if reference to the current GRC price point.
Bro there's no playing along. They will justify it.
Go look at every single car that has been released over the years and watch the prices go up. Inflation is relentless. Look at the GTR / R35 for example or 350Z to 370 to 400z lol.

Hell, look at the FRS.

The FRS has been incredibly restrained during it's model run. It was disappointing that when it debuted in late 2012 it's MSRP was right at $25k (instead of the "promised" $20k when Toyota first broke news of development years prior). And when the 2nd generation came out it was a $1000 increase (roughly). Given the current inflationary climate, that's nothing.

2013 FRS: $25,000
2023 GR86: $28,400

That's a roughly 13% increase.

Let's compare this to the Civic Si, a similarly sized (and powered) vehicle.
2013 Civic Si: $22,715
2023 Civic Si: $28,500

That's just over a 20% increase. And while the Civic Si trudges along with the same powertrain and reduction in power, the current GR86 got a 20% boost in power when it was revised.

Many models have had their MSRP fly to the moon, but the GR86, BRZ and Supra have not. Give credit where credit's due.
And now the Civic Type R (not SI) is $40-60k+ which is insanity for a FWD car lol.

Yep and MSRP increase is wild in a much shorter period than the Si:

2017 Civic Type R MSRP: $ 34,775 USD
2023 Civic Type R MSRP: $ 44,390 USD

27.6% increase in 6 years or so? And with essentially little to no changes in the powertrain or chassis.
I wanted to like the interior of the new CTR. I drove a Sport edition and it was slow af. Keiichi actually went off track in the FL5 2023 model understeering like crazy.

Edit: around the 11:40~12:08 mark
