Toyota released the following news article this morning. Who saw this coming?

PLANO, Texas (Feb.23, 2023) – Due to popular demand, Toyota Motor North America is announcing that the GR Corolla Circuit Edition will continue to be produced for model year 2024.

“We are seeing a ton of enthusiasm and excitement for the GR Corolla, especially the Circuit Edition,” says Michael Tripp, Toyota vice president of Marketing and Communications. “When Toyota GR fans speak, we listen and our plans are to increase GR Corolla volume and continue offering the Circuit Edition as part of the GR Corolla lineup in 2024.”

Available at Toyota dealerships this coming spring, the 2023 GR Corolla Circuit Edition’s standard features will include a vented bulge hood, forged carbon fiber roof, gloss black sporty rear spoiler, front and rear Torsen® Limited-Slip Differentials (LSD), and red-painted GR logoed calipers. There will be around 1,500 Circuit Edition units produced for the continental U.S. for model year 2023.

Other standard features on the 2023 Circuit Edition include Brin Naub® suede and synthetic leather-trimmed sport seats with red accents, heated front seats and steering wheel, a leather-wrapped MORIZO signed shift knob, and eight-speaker JBL® Premium Audio with amplifier. Available colors include Ice Cap, Supersonic Red*, and Heavy Metal*. For complete details of all GR Corolla models please visit 2023 Toyota GR Corolla | Toyota.com.

The 2024 GR Corolla Circuit Edition will carry over some of the standard features of the 2023 model, complete details will be announced later this year. Production of the Circuit Edition model for 2025 and beyond is still under consideration.

I’m not surprised I just don’t see the point in calling it a circuit edition they should’ve just called it some other special edition, because the sort of takes away from the whole 1500 units specialty of it
100% agree with this. I figured there would have been other special editions, but now this just takes away from the exclusivity of it. I would have hoped it would have been a 1st year only for circuits and probably takes away a lot of the hype/motivation for people waiting exclusively for a circuit. Now its just a toyota GRC STI basically.

I'm really happy about that from the perspective of hoping to eventually get one and hope they expand the color options (the 10ae GR86 looks gorgeous with the orange exterior and interior tie ins). I guess my time with my Supersonic Red might be limited...

I may be in the minority, but I don't care about the exclusivity. Long term, I want the parts to be available and easy to get.
For myself, this is the last fun car I planned to ever buy, so I wanted it to be something a bit more than special. The GRC itself is special on some level, but I wanted it to be a little more than that so I could make it a memorable and lasting purchase like people who bought a launch edition supra. May rethink now whether this is worth waiting for now that the GRC is just a WRX and the CE is now just an STI.

I told my dealer on Monday I wanted to hold off for the 2024 Special Edition. Guess I should give them a call to update them and make sure my deposit is 100% squared away. I'm also in the camp of not caring about exclusively. I just want the nicer interior and think the hood and wing complete the look.

What I'm reading is "were going to definitely miss our mark with 23 MY CE production so let's throw them a bone next year". The context that they would release this info before the first circuit rolled off the line is where I'm drawing my conclusion.
That's probably what happened and someone in the meeting came up with the idea of how to look like they're the good guys.

Great news! Think I'm gonna hold off until 2024, hoping they include things like arm rest, dual zone CC, etc. Just hope there isn't too much of a price increase... Interest rates should be lower as well.
If they include those I'm selling or trading mine in immediately. The Japan infotainment screen would be another selling point as well.

You do know the Circuit edition is only cosmetic upgrades if you have the performance pack on the Core, right? lol.

Hmmm.... I'm curious what they plan to add, or take away for that matter.

No armrest for 2023, so maybe no glovebox for 2024?

I am willing to bet there will not be an armrest haha y’all are way to hopeful. That would involve a lot of interior changes and is completely not cost effective.
