Front jack point.

So just to see if my jackstands would fit so close to the jack with lifting the car from the front subframe corner bolt(red circle in the picture above) I decided to lift it. To my surprise, not only do my jackstands have enough space to get the jack through between the front wheel and jackstand, the body of the GRC is so stiff that lifting from the front here also lifts the rear. Essentially, lift from this point high enough to get jackstands front and rear at whatever side. And repeat on the other side. I will say that clearances are still pretty tight with this method. If you lower your car, you'll probably need to use the 'drive the front wheels on low profile ramp for clearance and jack the car up method' or a Quick Jack.

Also, it's probably a good idea to use something like a hockey puck instead of the flush rubber piece(or nothing) on the jack's saddle. That is, if you care about not bending any metal under there.

On a side note, the rear suspension has a lot of travel on this car. This would make a great rallycross platform.
I just bought the same (I think) jack- low profile long reach- first time to try and lift a car.

Is this photo the best place to lift it up the car and put the stands under? My search shows it does not fit going from the front of the car?
Also, does leaving the jack right there obstruct the space needed to change the oil?

Thanks in advance.

What I personally did was lift it by the rear pinch weld until I can put a jackstand on one of the pinch welds on the front. I then use the factory manual suggested jack point to raise the entire front to place the other jackstand. In the future, I plan to get some ramps to hopefully avoid the need to jack the rear pinch weld.

I would suggest using rubber pads for your jack and jack stands. Also, make sure you are only jacking from the reinforced part of the pinch weld. View attachment 21336
Thanks for sharing that idea. I will look into some rubber pads for the jack and stands.
Dumb question- is the reinforced portion the part with a double layer of metal? Also, I saw a video of a corollahatchback where they pull down a cover to expose the metal… does the GR have this? (Around 1:15
). I was looking underneath last night but not sure what was what :(

The reinforced portion is the only part that is exposed and is stronger than the rest of the pinch weld. With a proper jack pad, you won't risk bending the pinch weld. This is where any jack or jack stand should be placed. There is one at each corner. View attachment 21351

As for center jack points, these are the proper jack points:

Thanks for the photo with arrow... I believe you are referring to that long piece hanging off the ... longer piece.
I did see those diagrams for the center jack point. When I try to look underneath, there appears to be several of those bolts !! Once I get it lifted, I think I will tie a string to that center point so I can get a better visual of where it is when the car is down. Excited to tackle this (super basic) project!
