Did you get it to work? Was it the correct connector? I got a few sets, and decided to go with a different route. @tjnordy hasn’t been here since he made that claim….
Got the connector a couple of days ago. Going to work on it this weekend. I'll update this thread with what I discover/come up with.

Few days ago I installed a Frameless Auto Dim Rear View Mirror w/Homelink in my son's GR4.

Install is fairly straight forward. I used Posi-Tap Taps 22ga to tap into wires of forward collision/sign reading camera (16 pin connection pictured below). I used pin 2 and 9 (red and black wires) to power the mirror and V1 radar detector. Added a dash cam as well (needs a power adapter). Taking cover off is not that difficult, followed instructions in this video.

Hope this helps..
Thank you so much, Fradlis. Your post about hooking up the auto-dim mirror was invaluable as I attempted to use the mirror tap for connecting my Uniden R8 radar detector system. The pin connections were exactly what I needed and your pictures clear and unambiguous. Many thanks! I was able to create a clean, professional look without the PIA of trying to run wire down the A-pillar to the fuse box.

Much appreciated! 🙇‍

@GR Yoda. I am doing the same thing.... so you were able to use the red wire to PIN 9 and Black wire to PIN 2 on the mirror tap to power up your Uniden?

Picked up the one from Toyota, PK643-42HE0 and used the supplied wiring harness to bring the power from around the fuse box, fortunately i already had wires there for the dashcam so I tapped off the dashcam power supply. Note the wiring harness, the red wire is actually accessory and blue is battery power. Had it the other way and the compass lit up when the car was off.

Trim piece behind the mirror pops off easily, though if you got a dash cam that is close to the trip piece it'll be a little more difficult to slide out the trim piece. The wire from the new rearview mirror has a plastic harness clip that goes where the red circle is. Old mirror still iinstalled of course.

Tucked the wire behind the headliner and down the A-pillar and zip tied the harness and cleaned up the dashcam power as it wasn't really secured. If you do wire things down the A-pillar wire must go behind the airbag.

Routed the harness down an opening near the speaker and behind that pipe.

Tapped into the existing dashcam power.

One observation, the one from Toyota appears to be the "Gentex Series 8 Frameless Auto-Dimming Mirror with Homelink and Compass 50-genk85a" (even the included manual shows it is made by Gentex). Can't really find one here in Canada (been looking for a few months) aside from the one on amazon which is priced a lot higher than the one from the dealer.

I wonder if this mirror is any different from the GR86 mirror..

Did EXACTLY what the OP did to my 25 Premium today, easy.

Make sure the PosiTap breaks the insulation.

OP did you disconnect the battery before you started doing this ?
I did not disconnect the battery for this install, but I did verify there was no power to the circuit I was tapping before connecting the mirror. KOEO and there should be no power.

Installed a mirror tap today for radar detector. MirrorTap MT-1015. Was a little confused on which ones to tap but I got it working. Used the top right red #9 and one down one to the left the bottom right brown wire #2. You have to insert it to the right of the wire as there’s more space on that side.

I used the #9 Power supply+ (red) for positive and the #2 ACC accessory (black) for negative off of the port that connects to the adaptive cruise control. Been running my radar detector with that setup for months without issues. I have no idea what you connected to for negative, but the chart below from Fradlis' post might help.

I see, thank you for the help. I was super confused with that diagram but I guess it’s upside down for future users reference. I had one of those connectors that have a usb c wired inline for a dash cam and I took off the wrapping and connected them to the same wires and it’s been working but appreciate info for future users so they don’t do the same as me. I used #9 and #13 It was this connector. Amazon.com: mangoal Dashcam Power Adapter for Toyota Lexus 16 Pin (Model D) Compatible with Corolla Tacoma Grand Highlander, Lexus NX/RX/RZ and More, Connects to Lane Assist Port (Hidden), Powers GPS Radar etc : Electronics

I guess the 13 is RL- so rear left negative speaker wires. I will go back and put the connector in #13 in #2 which is the bottom right black left of bottom right brown wire. I’ll go back and edit my original pics for future users.

Hey everyone !

I've just come out of a two hour session of fails over fails trying to wire an Advent mirror...
Something I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is how to wire one that comes with THREE wires ?
Image

Image

One of em looked like a ground loop (that I cut to fit into a positap), one was black with a white stripe, and the third one was solid black. What do these all correspond to ?

I also noticed that the mirror has a lot more wires coming out of it than the three wires we are supposed to use.

Mirror side harness :

"Adapter" harness from mirror to the wires we have to tap :
Image

Since I do not want to touch the OEM harness, I bought the AliExpress pigtails and made my own intermediate harness to tap into.

Image

I've tried tapping into the 2.ACC, 9. Power Supply +, 1.GND, and tried a few different configurations with the wires coming from the mirror, but none worked... Hopefully I didn't fry the mirror's internals at some point. :/

If anyone could explain to me what I might have overlooked, I would be really grateful !

Cheers !
Antoine
