I am planning on doing our first oil change soon..

Got an oil plug with a magnet (use them on all my cars, work great), will update this thread if it fits once I do the swap.

I usually use Amsoil and would love to sick with one brand (buying in bulk, etc..). I believe 0w-20 is recommended for this engine (G16E-GTS) same as my ND2.

I believe EA15K09 is the Amsoil filter that should be comparable to Toyota's 90915-YZZN1 OEM filter, can someone please confirm that?

Thank you

what brand oil are you doing? does Toyota carry the 0-20 the GR Yaris uses? I just hit 600 mi, definitely gonna flush engine oil.... but trying to figure out where to source all the fluids and filters.

I tried to find filters last week to do my break-in oil change and couldn't find them anywhere. Haven't called the dealer yet though. If anyone finds filters outside of the dealership let me know. Is 90915-YZZN1 the part number?

I am not sure if it's in stock, but you could try Lamspeed Racing.
They have GR Yaris/ GR Corolla Filters for $25.

I just ordered few gallons of Amsoil 0-20w Signature oil (use it on multiple cars with no issues so far) and filter that I mentioned in my original post. Once they come in and I completed my first oil change I'll update this thread with results..

This GR Yaris oil change video has a completely different one.
90915-10009
Well alrighty then, lol. I might just pay the dealer to do my first one. My salesman doesn't think my 2-years of free oil changes will cover a change at 1000 miles. I'll call the service department and see.

That oil after 1k miles was rather clean.. probably driving it easy during the break in period.. I plan on doing my change a bit earlier than that to get that magnetic plug in early..
I have a fluid evacuator, so I plan to get all the oil sucked out through the dip stick and only lift the car to do the filter. Coming from a german car, it was nice to be able to do oil changes without raising the car, especially cuz I was lowish and the filter was topside of the motor. I hope that this car will be okay to use my pump. It comes with quantity readings so ill know if I am burning any oil or not. This also saves me a few bucks on having to replace bolts and washers on the oil pan everytime.

If you're already going to be under the car for the filter, why not just drain it?

Edit: My 3pm brain didn't read the last part lol. Ignore me.

Well, it's not only the bolts aspect of it, but it's also the risk of spilling or miscalculating where the oil tub is sitting and it overshoots. With the evacuator, I just build up vacuum and it sucks it out of the engine , zero hassle. Then all I have to do is replace the filter and top up. I have to see how it looks like top down. There may be a small chance I can do it from the top. Is there enough space from the top?

Per manual

“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” is used in your Toyota vehicle. Use Toyota approved “Toyota Genu- ine Motor Oil” or equivalent to satisfy the following grade and viscosity.
Oil grade: ILSAC GF-6A multi- grade engine oil
Recommended viscosity: SAE 0W-20”

after doing a bit of googling looks like it’s fairly standard with the big oil guys, articles from mobil1, pennzoil, and Castrol.

You can get the oil changed at 1k, but it will count as the first of your two free ones.
With Toyotacare we get 2 years of free oil changes or 25,000 miles. That would be 5 free changes at the recommend 5000 mile intervals. If you put that many miles on it.

Sorry bro, that's not correct. You get a "maintenance" every 5,000 mi. You get an oil change every 10,000 mi. If you do your services early enough, you can actually get the fifth tire rotation. You get a tire rotation and multi-point inspection every 5000 mi, and an oil and filter change every other service. That's Toyota Care.
