Any of you also playing Elden Ring to pass the time before we get to see this car?

As of this weekend, I've got 60 hours into my first playthough, finally respec'd off of a STR build and onto a Dex/Bleed build, and am being told by my buddy who has beaten the game that I'm nowhere near finished. This game is an absolute blast.

Try to keep the conversation relatively spoiler free, for obvious reasons. :)

I am playing it but not really liking my time playing it. I've never been a souls guy but my friends said this was different but it feels the exact same. Can't return it so I need to play it to justify the $80 XD. I'm 8 hours in but I've watched a lot of streamers play it so I spoiled myself. I've been more playing Destiny 2 and avoiding any Wonderlands spoilers :)

Souls games aren't for everyone. There's a certain level of punishment you need to be okay with to find any enjoyment in the game. Lol. I've played all of them that have released on PC and love them, so Elden Ring was a natural choice for me.

Basically the best game of all time, probably have 1000+ hours into all the other games combined, and this one is easily the best. Only downside is it doesn’t run the best on PC still but very far from unplayable.
I hate saying it, because I think it's usually hyperbole, but I generally agree in this case. It's like they took Skyrim, threw out all the bad things about Skyrim, then replaced it with Dark Souls. I've had little to no performance issues. 1 crash in 60 hours, and a couple of netcode problems. Otherwise, I'm running at 1440p60 without issue.

I've got maybe 500 hours between DS1, 2 and 3, with 3 being a majority of that. I have a feeling Elden Ring will capture many more hours of my life.

Yeah I've been running 1440p90 with no crashes. Only some FPS drops but I've heard it isn't the best PC port. 2 of my PC friends have been crashing a lot but the one's PC shouldn't even run it. I'm also fine with the punishment but I didn't really get that huge seratonin spike after beating the 1st story boss. I did a side boss early on that felt good to do first try but just not having the most fun with the bosses

Fair enough. I thought the Margott was a great first boss. He really teaches you a lesson. That lesson being "Yo, you ran straight here because the guy told you to. That was dumb, go explore and level up." It strongly encourages you to explore the world, while not outright telling you that or forcing you to do that. If you want to bash your head against the wall and beat him, you can, or you can take the hint and explore the ridiculously large open world that's full of actually interesting things, rather than random collectibles and useless trinkets.

It's all personal taste, though. Just as I won't knock someone for what car they own, I wouldn't knock anyone for not liking a game I think is great. If you're not enjoying it, find another game that you will enjoy.

No. Seen Doc streaming it and get bored pretty quickly. Primarily play Warzone and I just got GT7 so I’ll probably be completely drowning in turning laps in POS cars for a while to rank it up. But only until riding season begins and then if’s hammering corners with my knee skipping off the ground. Console is for winter.

Warzone is my second favorite Battle Royale behind Apex Legends, though they're very different games.

Have you had much time to play GT7? I recently go Forza Horizon 5, but haven't even booted it up yet, thanks to Elden Ring.

Yeah I mostly play looter-shooters now. Only played FPS's when I was in middle school with some exceptions. I play all kinds of other games though but most of my time is spend on Destiny or Borderlands nowadays

I wanted to play Elden Ring, but I knew DS series and From Software games are not for the faint of heart. I decided to play Bloodborne and Dark Souls Remastered on PS5. It for sure is frustrating. I am trying to build the mental fortitude to play these games as it is easily the most challenging. The style is clunky. Watching people play on Twitch has helped my parray. I really want to like these games and trying really hard not to give up. Every move needs to be calculated. Some days I do great and some days I just immediately want to quit.

You hit the nail on the head. But there's little more satisfying in gaming than finally killing that one damn boss that you've been stuck on. Elden Ring is way better on that front, because you don't have to keep killing that boss to progress. You just turn around and walk a different direction.

Be patient. Take every death as a learning oppurtunity. Soon, you'll be rolling your way to victory.

PS - Elden Ring makes shield builds WAY more viable than any other SoulsBorne game ;)

Theres that moment I am trying to get to when it all connects. I am essentially trying to open a new door in my brain that I haven't tapped into. Also playing Jedi Fallen Order and jesus christ is that not a From Software game without actually being a From Software game. More forgiving than DS and Bloodborne though for sure.

I've been really wanting to play it, but haven't had the mental capacity to dive into a new game. Been mostly playing Forza Horizon 5 when I've had an hour of free time.
I picked up FH5, but haven't played it yet. I'm kind of waiting on my Steam Deck to get into it. What do you think of it?

Samurai build with the wakizashi is sick. I didn’t even know about renalla’s other phases because I bled her twice. Since they got rid of weapon durability I can finally rock katanas lol
I switched off a STR build with the giant crusher hammer and onto a dual katana dex/bleed build using the Rivers of Blood (left) and the Nagakiba (right hand). I finally added the parry shield and the hookclaws to the build and got everything to +24/+10. Respecced again to dump points into Arcane. Things bleed so fast with those claws.

I bought FH5, played it for like 10 hours, and haven't touched it in awhile. Just so many good games to play this winter season. My wallet hates me
