Hey @first_tube! Congrats on being second on that list in NJ. For any of these waitlists did you have to give a deposit? Or is it just your name/info?
Welcome @bd999! Have you tried reaching out to any dealers near you? Any luck?I'm near NJ too. Can you share the names of any of the dealers who have a waitlist? I'd like to get on the list too. Thanks!
No deposit as of yet - just name/info. I informed soon as they get allocation/swap I will put as much down as needed to secure.Hey @first_tube! Congrats on being second on that list in NJ. For any of these waitlists did you have to give a deposit? Or is it just your name/info?
Nope, most did not know what I was talking about. Instead of calling I flooded each site with the Contact Us form and told them, "Hello, will there be a waitlist extended for the GR Corolla? I know this is way in advance to be asking but I would like to be the first to get via allocation/swap or factory order as this will be very difficult to obtain. If you are unsure which car I am referring to, please use this link 2021 Toyota Hot Hatch | Toyota Official Site." I selected phone vs email for contact and most dealers called right away. Some were dismissive saying too early but I was adamant to at least take down my contact info.Hey @first_tube, did they share any details with you so far on the delivery timeline?
Mid way through I decided to create this sheet. I will say I definitely mixed up some of the contact names. Most emailed me after so I can hold on to their contact info in the event I knew something before them.I'm near NJ too. Can you share the names of any of the dealers who have a waitlist? Welcome to the forum @mtl302. Did you get on a wait list yet? If so, did they ask for a deposit?I started poking around to my nearby dealers as well. Unfortunately they did not have any real info on the vehicle. The one rep. did add this comment though, "Here's what I do know though. With first model year cars, Toyota sends out 1 car to each dealership as a first wave. Then they start sending them to us regularly." I do not know how true this statement is nor its validity in this case, but I thought I would throw this out.
They just asked for contact info. They didn't ask for a deposit.Welcome to the forum @mtl302. Did you get on a wait list yet? If so, did they ask for a deposit?
No deposits can be asked for until they have the VIN# and build sheet from Toyota. My daughter just put down a deposit on a RAV4 Hybrid because they were just allocated to the dealer with a build date for 12/15/21. If this holds true and we see the GRC this summer we could expect to put down deposits around April/May if all goes well. Fingers crossed! They just asked for contact info. They didn't ask for a deposit.
Well said. The most important thing IMO as of now is make contact with dealer and take down your info. Trying to find any new updates is forcing/waste of time. We are in a good place being on this forum.I’m going to be straight up with all of you.
Until we get an official reveal from Toyota and they get allocations, don’t believe a word the dealer says about production, time frame, etc. lmao. (One member obviously had some type of proof through a memo but NOT EVERY DEALER IS IN THE LOOP)
From experience on the GR86 forum, you have a lot of people saying their dealer said this, said that then be terribly wrong. Most of the people who swore up and down that their dealer was right ended up disappearing at the real launch MONTHS later after spreading misinformation. Dealers for the most part will say whatever to get your business. Have to remember, in a way, the manufacturer and dealer are two separate entities.
With that being said, be patient. Reveal should be coming up soon with these leaks. I have to get that out of the way since this forum is still new.
Exactly! I don’t want people to think I’m being a jerk, we’re all on one team.Well said. The most important thing IMO as of now is make contact with dealer and take down your info. Trying to find any new updates is forcing/waste of time. We are in a good place being on this forum.

We don’t get paid to be honest and help eachother on here, dealers get paid whether they lie or tell the truth.
I honestly want to see everyone get a GRC on this forum.
I made a deposit 4 days ago i'm from Canada thoughJust got off the phone with them. They're not taking any deposits and they don't know when they'll see it but they're putting me down for info updates and putting me down for when orders open. He confirmed the G16 with AWD and the fact it'll be manual only as well as talked about the rumours of the rear seat delete and although he said they weren't told if it was going to be the Corolla or Yaris platform, we all know it's the Corolla and he said how the rumours say that too. He's a big fan of the GRY as he got to drive one so he's been trying to keep with every little detail he can get for over 2 years now
Dealers can't take a deposit until they have been allocated the car and there is a VIN#. Once they know of the information they can take a deposit. Normally it will be 2-4 months from allocation to delivery depending on where it's being built and when the build date starts.Just got off the phone with them.
