Dealer Updates (what's your dealer telling you?)

There is a ton of excitement right now on the forum and its hard to keep up with all the threads, but I thought it would be good to start a thread now to aggregate all the info we are hearing from dealers only.

In the next few days/weeks/months there is going to be a lot of info flying around about ability to spec the cars or not, getting a choice between CP or Core, is there an official specing process, landed dates, build tracking etc etc.

So lets keep this to info you are hearing from your dealer.

I'll start.......i called my dealer again this morning and basically got nothing, haha. Nice kid and said he would shoot me a text as soon as he hears anything but also said "if you hear anything on the forums, let me know and I'll see what I can find with that info".

Seems like he wants to help but not a lot from him right now.

You?

It's been a long time since I've been here, lol.

As a short update. I put a deposit on this car December of 2021. I updated my request the day that the CE was announced for a Heavy Metal CE.

Today, the dealership I have a deposit with was allocated a GRC CE Heavy Metal. I asked about it, and was told that it's not for sale.

Not hard to read between the lines, lol.

Basically, the scenerio played out how I envisioned - place in line (first) and deposit ultimately meant nothing.

Good luck everyone else!

Unfortunately not uncommon. Happened to me too. If traveling isn't an issue, call around at dealers with allocation. There are a few open listings.
The Motoring Obsession map is currently listing 467 GRCs which is more than I’ve ever seen on there. It’s also more than twice the number of Civic Type Rs currently listed. Here’s to increasing supply! I hope it will keep trending that way.

@dng a cool feature for your site would be a time series graph of known cars per day so us nerds could see how availability is changing over time.

Is that the 1st car they ever get the allocation? I assume dealership can "only" keep one car to themselves.

First Circuit. They've received at least 1 core, but I didn't ask about it (especially since it didn't have PP). I doubt there are any rules regarding how many they're allowed to 'keep', but realistically, it is being sold to someone associated with the dealership, so they're not keeping anything.

Sorry to hear it happened to you too.

This is one of those cars where if the ideal one landed on my lap, I'd buy it ~ but if I have to actively hunt for it, I rather wait for the sunset edition in a few years, lol. I'm also in an area with lots of allocations AND demand ~ I'd have to cast a pretty wide net - just not worth the frustration and logistics. Thanks for the suggestion though.

No worries. I ended up getting my car but not without a lot of effort and stress.

Really sorry to hear that. I put my deposit around the same time and chose to go with a loaded Core this Feb. However I definitely agree that the HM CE is more cool.
Another good start to the day! 17 new GRC's those morning...💪🏽

Did they say it wasn't for sale not knowing you were the one that possibly they pre-sold it too? How often did you speak with dealership since leaving the deposit? And would they do any thing to compensate you, if they did sell it else where? As there are other folks on here that bumped, but was able to grab the very next one, or got a discount for the next GRC that arrived on the lot?🤷‍♂️
Another decent drop of GRC's, but more importantly my CE has finally entered the "transit" phase and should be here later today or tomorrow! 😁🥳 🥂

Lol! @byebyeGTI @AUSyTyIN colorado dealers 😂
Most of the Colorado Dealerships are decent. There are just a couple bad apples.

I reached out to that dealership last week to see how firm they were on the price. They said that they are not allowing any test drives on the car at this time and they have been so inundated with leads that they are slowly working through their inquiry list in the order that they came in. I laughed and hung up on them.

Yeah, I saw that shit on the Rocky Mountain GR page last week. I don’t think they’re even a Toyota dealership. My guess is they paid ADM for it at another dealership and now can’t afford to sell it for less without losing money. There are a few MSRP dealerships in CO, a couple doing a “reasonable” ADM, and then two (owned by the same auto group) that are absolute crooks.

The one that Urban Motors has came from Groove. They are just a used car dealership.

Corwin is the worst. Blast them and let everyone know how big of crooks they are.
