I'm an Australian living in the US but keep a GR Yaris Rallye in Australia, only getting to drive it for 3 weeks every year. This is my second GR Yaris, the first was the the initial release in Nov.2020 without the torsen diffs. I sold that one within a day of purchase for a profit of $10K, high demand and no availability, and waited for the Rallye version which I got 4 months ago.

My concern about the GR Corolla is that it will be much heavier than the GR Yaris with the same output and that I will be screwed by a dealer with a huge markup, something that is illegal in Australia.

Welcome aboard! Very jealous of you being able to own one, especially the Rallye edition. Hopefully they'll balance the power:weight to that of the GRY and Golf R so it still feels very quick. In terms of the dealer markups, only way to avoid it is find a dealer that doesn't do it. Wish we would make it illegal like they do in Australia and Canada

The reason we here in NA are so sad is there is nothing here like the GR Yaris. I cant think of any current vehicle offered in the US. Small 3 door hatch, light, AWD, high output. The Focus RS ended a few years ago as is sizeably larger and heavier.

Welcome to America.

The land of shittier cars and out-of-control markups. It truly is one of the worst places - in the developed world - for car enthusiasts. Historically, we always got screwed out of good cars. This tradition continues with the lack of GR Yaris.

All of the stereotypes are basically true. We can’t have nice things because we are fat and lazy. We love big Mustangs with automatics. It is what it is.

BTW, I’ll be doing what you’ve done, but in reverse. My wife is Thai and we plan on staying there more often. So I’m looking to buy a GR Yaris in Thailand. Granted, the Thai import tax is insane, but I’m willing to buy once, cry once in this case.

If the GRC lives up to the hype, I’ll own one. Hell, maybe two if it’s spectacular. But I’m not holding my breath.

We may not get cars as cool as other countries but at least we have the insane ability to modify our cars like crazy unlike some of Europe(especially the UK where you can't really even engine swap)

The only thing comparable would be the JCW and yeah FWD, but LSD, and it doesn't need AWD. But that's the closest thing we have to a GR Yaris here, sadly.

I wish Mini would finally put the All4 into a Cooper instead of the Countryman and Clubman, especially in the 3-door Mini. I'd rock a 3-door AWD turbo Mini
