Like many of you, I'm pretty excited for the GR Corolla.
Back in February, I called my nearest Toyota dealer, and confirmed they sell all vehicles, including the yet to be announced GR Corolla, at MSRP. They advised I was the first to inquire about it, and they were not prepared to take any deposits until pricing was announced. I gave them all my information and was told they would be in touch.
Fast forward to August, and I reached out to see if they had any updates. I knew pricing still hadn't been announced, but perhaps they were taking deposits now. Turns out, they were taking deposits, as they had already taken 6, and I wasn't one of them. To add insult to injury, there was no apology. Even after leaving a negative Google review, where I was promised they would "try to make it right," and the sales team would reach out to me, I have yet to receive a phone call.
I currently drive a Mk7.5 Golf R, which is a pretty darn good vehicle, so this late in the game, I had reconciled that I wouldn't be getting a GR Corolla any time soon.
This morning, after some more videos released, I couldn't help but feel I REALLY wanted a GR Corolla. For kicks and giggles, I looked up all the Toyota dealers in my state (South Dakota). I ended up finding one that not only would agree to sell at MSRP, but hadn't actually had anyone call about it, much less put a deposit down. While the dealer still can't order one, I have now put a deposit down for a Core with all three packages. "Crisis" averted.
