Canadian Stock Allocations

Hi everyone!

I have been informed this is the more popular GR Corolla forum. I work as inventory control for a Toyota dealer in Canada and am able to share "allocations" as they are released to dealers.

Most of you already know that Toyota does not do true "factory orders", only allocation requests. I've gone into detail a few times in the GR86 thread,

Here is the original thread from the other GRC forum

and Supra 6MT allocations;

dealers wait lists don't exist anymore, and now it's just whoever gets put into the system first across Canada is first on the list in Canada.
I'm clearly misinterpreting but this sounds like a build to order system which doesn't exist with Toyota?
English translation of an email I received regarding the sale of the Core to the one in front of me who wanted a Circuit: Thank you for your email.

As Toyota's Canadian distributor, we always welcome customer feedback, even when it's not positive. This is the only way we can measure our customers' satisfaction with the service provided by Toyota dealerships.

We would like to inform you that the automotive supply chain continues to experience some volatility affecting the manufacture and estimated arrival date of our vehicles. We understand and appreciate the desire of our customers/guests to purchase new Toyota and Lexus vehicles and we continually strive to meet those needs.

Please be advised that you have contacted the Toyota Canada Inc. Customer Assistance Center at Head Office. Toyota Canada, as a manufacturer and distributor of Canadian Toyota vehicles, is not involved in the sale of Toyota vehicles to the public.

Each dealership is independently owned and operated. As such, Toyota Canada Inc. is not involved in day-to-day dealership operations, including the sales process or dealership policy. While we understand the importance of open communication, it will be your Toyota dealer's responsibility to address any discrepancies.

Although we are unable to change what happened, we thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and we sincerely regret that this experience did not meet your expectations. A copy of your correspondence has been forwarded to the appropriate departments within Toyota Canada for their information.

I've been in contact with a number of dealers. You don't get choice of color or anything with this car. If you want one within the next year, you have to take what's available and not be picky. The list matters very little. They phone the first on the list and chances are that they don't take it for reasons prev mentioned. It then goes to the 2nd, 3rd etc or the dealer puts it on lot and it's first come first serve. Regularly checking in with a dealer is the best method of getting one and buying local to your residence so im told. Keep on mind they want to sell to someone they think will regularly maintain the vehicle with them so they can bring in more money. If you insist on getting a circuit but a core gets ordered in, it's probably in you best interest to take the core as there is low probability your dealer will get exactly what you want. This is atleast what I've experienced.

Looking at the list, it's roughly 2 months from allocation date to date of first use. So end of this month seems fair in your case! Let us know when it drops at your dealer!
My CE edition is on that list as well and my dealer told me an ETA of June

Hi guys,
This is what my dealership told me, they asked me what color Core Edition I wanted, then when I went in a couple of months later to check what was happening with the list, they told me there's no list at their dealership (Abbotsford, BC) and that they ordered one for me in the color I wanted (Red) and it's up to Toyota Japan's schedule when they will build my car, and thus I wait till it's built for me.

Not sure if what they're telling you is true. I'm first at the Abbotsford dealer and that was confirmed by the GM alongside the deposit I placed before the car was officially revealed in April. I passed on the only core they received. There is definitely a waitlist so I'm not sure how they ordered one in the color you wanted. Just waiting for a CE.

saw a Morizo last Monday while going to dealer for the finalize some stuff on my circuit that I’m getting. Morizo 9 out 10 owner is super nice and invited me to go to the track with him.
Do you know if it came from either St-Hubert Toyota or Spinelli Toyota Pointe-Claire? Those are the only 2 quebec morizos and we're trying to figure out which # was which.

For anyone that has Abbotsford as their dealer - make sure they do everything you ask. I asked my car not to be washed and no license plate drill. They did both.

Well, it was fun while it lasted. Been promised a circuit edition that was inbound with the last batch of allocations and found out it’s going to somebody who has a relationship with the owner of the dealer.. not going to point fingers, but does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve had my deposit since last April and texts from 2 separate salespeople saying I’m next and the car is coming.

Now the sales managers apparently want to keep it “local” which was never mentioned when my money was taken or frankly a couple weeks ago when the car was allocated. Of course it’s just a cover for the “I’m giving it to my friend”, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the friend drives it for a bit and the car is flipped for a huge markup with a win-win between the parties. Welp.

I mean, they have asked me every time I've stopped by a toyota dealer or phoned in if I'm local to the dealer. Really not surprised, as the list means nothing from what I've heard and seen in other forums. Sounds like a shitty dealer. When i was considering selling a truck for a fuel efficient car I phoned around and went to dealers for a prius prime (I know, dumb idea) they told me almost flat out I wouldn't get a car unless I traded in my truck for min 14k under value or I'd sit in the back end of a waiting list for 2 years and they would prioritize any person that even came after me. I'd just be happy myself to get a core then swap out some basic stuff like tires and rims.

Yeeeup, slimy stealerships. And honestly I’m fine with a core, it’s just a matter of who’s to say it won’t happen again. Absolutely gross behaviour..

Oh, prob happens all the time. They were so casual about trying to rip me off when I was at my local dealer. Said I had 0 shot of ever getting a gr4 (even a core) and that I'd be lucky to ever get a prius prime which might actually be more difficult to get in my area.
Mind you it seems alot of people don't care about getting shafted as they mainly have pre owned vehicles on lot advertised above value and people seem to keep buying them.
Just got the call. My red circuit edition will arrive between July 8th and 14th. Can't wait to join the GR Corolla family.

I’m truly excited! My dealer called to take a deposit on my allocation arriving in July. I waited so long for that phone call. Supersonic red Circuit Edition.
