When I called them out, the scumbag just texted me back and said "the car is being sold as optioned. It's your choice my friend. Or you can continue to wait in vain indefinitely. Let me know ASAP."
Yikes. That’s wildly rude and awful. It might be time to start annotating Canadian dealerships based on their manner of sale with the GRC. Drive business away from dealerships that mistreat people and towards reasonable dealerships.

Many dealerships have forgotten their bread&butter during these unusual car times. Gouging for a single car sale is bad business considering dealerships really make their money from people that buy/lease a new car, then trade up every 3-5 years for 20+ years. A lot of people will never return if they get burned once.

It's Pickering Toyota. They originally told me MSRP when I first put my name down last year.

Hope that thing sits and racks up floorplan interest until they decide to let it go for MSRP.
That's awful, sorry to hear. I'm sure your luck will turn around at another dealership 🤞. Next time I go back to my dealership I will ask if any people are in line behind me.

If the stories of them selling for ~$75k in Alberta are true, an $80k ask isn’t out of the realm of possibility. I sure af wouldn’t pay it but there are lots of people with money to burn.
Can they not be reported to OMVIC? 300km is obviously "not used"... especially if it was not ever sold to anybody, I'm sure the dealer would get in trouble over that..

Just had a quick question for those who were already able to buy a core; did your dealers tack on any mandatory accessories, and if so do you mind sharing how much/what was added? I just got offered a unit today, but they're mandating a bunch of useless accessories adding up to 4-5k. I'm in ontario, so other than the typical doc/admin fees, they can't add ADMs directly so the only thing they can do is add accessories.
My dealer charge $699 mandatory in London, Ontario. But it grants me 10% off parts and a free oil change. So I can see a little value at least.

Thanks! Funny enough, I saw the white one at pickering show up on FB marketplace. Apparently they're now taking orders at MSRP for additional cars. I asked if there would be mandatory accessories and I couldn't get a straight answer. I can't see the ad anymore, so he just ended up blocking me 🤷‍♂️ Man can't even get back on the waitlist at MSRP it seems LOL

Their sales reps are immature af. If they really screwed you on your MSRP waitlist, nothing will get their attention more than a 1 star review on any online platform (especially google maps).

50-50 on whether they'll do anything about it, but they'll definitely notice your review as long as it's there. Same goes with their customer surveys.

From what I have gathered, these msrp orders are just tricks to get people to put deposits in. They enter the names into the Toyota system to get more allocations. When the car arrives they force addons. If the customer refuses they now call it a “canceled” order and sell it to whoever they want. If a dealer is known to force addons, I wouldn’t even put a deposit in.

well fellas, I've tumbled far down the reservation list. Not really any point in challenging it - it's such a seller's market for this and will be for the next year or so.

It's really soured me on the whole brand. I was open to a second Toyota to supplement, but can't bring myself to trust the dealer network.

I'll keep my deposit in, just in case. But it feels more like a 0% interest loan to the dealership than a vehicle reservation.

One more in BC

this one's been sitting for a month. it's a used car, been spotted many times insured driving around the city and has >1000km.

it originally sold for msrp + ppf, but i have a feeling the "first owner" might not have been a real owner but a friend so they can get it back and resale for used without sticking to msrp.

This is great news on the next batch of allocations, mine looks to be finally coming in.
I don't post much but it has finally happened. Just around a year wait and with the help of forum members I was able to stay on top of the dealer. Signed the paper work yesterday and taking delivery Thursday afternoon.

Thank you

Late update but I picked up my car last week. Have put about 300 KMs on it so far and love every bit of it. Haven't revved past 4k yet but man the sounds this thing makes is awesome, especially the BOV when lifting off the throttle.

Unfortunately the dealer drilled my bumper and washed the car despite me telling them not to. Bummer.
