Hey thanks for this overview. So to summarize:I'm glad someone is keeping a spreadsheet, thank you! I already have enough spreadsheets to update on a daily basis with close to 1000 new car orders...
That is close, but not quite. The "claiming" of allocations from a pool is a USA thing. But it is similar,
Factory provides a build list to Toyota Canada National; planned builds for the next production run
National decides on a "fill rate", the percent that they will use to fill Sold Order Requests (what most refer to as "factory orders") (for the year, I believe the estimated fill rate for ALL vehicles is about 50% thru national fulfillment, and 40% thru stock allocation)
National then "fills" the requests with allocations, releasing them to each dealer with the customers name attached (we cannot see these)
The remainder are given to Zones to be released as supplemental/stock allocations
Before these are released, dealers are able to submit a stock allocation request. This shows what zone is expecting to release to the dealer, and dealers can make changes (certain conditions apply). The changes aren't guaranteed, its dependent on another dealer declining the package you are requesting instead.
Zone does consider dealers open sold order requests when generating the stock allocation. But as these are the "leftovers" from National fulfilment it can be a bit out of order, as far as filling orders oldest to newest. I'd say about 85% matches open orders these days.
Once the stock allocation is finalized it is released to dealers as open stock. Dealers link the new stock to open orders, but it also gives them an opportunity to trade, give the allocation to a more "important" customer, (or sell it to a new customer at a markup), etc. These are the allocations that other dealers can see in the dealer trade App. So what I personally do is use the remaining ~15% that doesn't match any orders to try and trade OUT of zone and match orders.
HOWEVER the GRC is a special edition, like TRD Pro. We cannot submit sold order requests.
So the special edition build list goes to National. National breaks it into Zone. Zone decides who gets them and releases it as open stock. These are visible until the dealer links a customers name. So in theory, we should be able to see EVERY GRC allocation (besides morizo), if I am fast enough and can see it on the dealer trade App before the dealer marks it as sold in a customers name.
...And after just checking now, the system is now allowing me to create requests for GRC Core models. But we have been told its a special edition. So now I'm not entirely sure if we will be able to see EVERY allocation. Some may get linked directly. At the start of 2022 we were able to submit requests for TRD Pro and Capstone Tundras, IIRC we had one filled directly, and then receieved the rest as a special edition allocation. If someone is on a waiting list, see if you can get a sold order request number 🤷♂️
- In the case of normal cars, filling sold order requests directly with the customer's name is invisible to other dealerships.
- The GRC did not allow sold order requests, so all fulfillment was done via the zone system. Which means it is possible (but not guaranteed) to see every car that is allocated.
- However, it appears that sold order requests are potentially possible for GRC, which means it may be possible for models to be fulfilled invisibly. But there is no guarantee that will happen, or at what rate it may happen.
My question was initially about whether we would be able to see most of the cars allocated within Canada. The answers seems to be a resounding "maybe"! Which is actually extremely helpful information, it means that the dumps you provide should contain most of the inventory. With "should' and "most" doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.
And yes, I am keeping track of all known Canadian allocations, and attaching VINs when I know them. If you want access let me know.
Thanks again!
