Boost / power cut ?

On my way to work this morning, I was pulling away from a stop sign pretty much WOT, and after shifting into 2nd gear the car feel on its face with some sort of spitting noise coming from exhaust. No CEL, no warnings, nothing. After that it drove normal and would give me full power. This is like the 3rd times its done it to me, always WOT in 1st or 2nd gear.

I've done a little research, and some people are saying it might be faulty ignition coils? And I dont thinks its fuel starvation as I had a 3/4 tank of gas.

Anyone else's cars doing this? Its a 2023 GRC. Thanks for any info.

This sounds like ignition coils. You may have heard a popping noise around 5500-6500 which is a rapid misfire.

Yes, its at that exact rpm! Would there be a code that would come up?

Didn't try and go to toyota for a possible warranty claim? And was the misfire across multiple cylinders or just one in particular?

My car does this, 2nd gear WOT usually happens right around 5.5-6k rpm. The last time it happened sounded like it was backfiring too. Oddly doesn’t trigger CEL but I do have archive codes for misfire.

Im hesitant to bring mine to my local dealer as I do not want their techs test driving my car trying to recreate the problem. I have zero faith in them, so I ordered some new coil packs. Once they arrive ill install them and report if the problem persists or if that fixes it.
